@Stanleysteamer a pair of cheap pmr radios for you:
Amazon product

Mysteriously, before reading your post an offer, "Kevlike", came to me out of the blue, which I am following up.
I will let you know but thanks for thinking of me and W and giving me the benefit of your product knowledge cos I know you'd never suggest rubbish ones. They do seem a very good price.
As you know I cannot tell the poop from the Shinola when it comes to these things!!

But I do have one question, would UK PMRs have a problem being used albeit intermittently and in a failrly steep high wooded valley?
By problem I mean, "wiv de auforitieez" in Frogland.
Us using them on the land wouldn't be a problem cos it would be short range, no more than 200 metres, and nearly line of sight if not actually line of sight. You could say, "Why the heck don't you simply shout!?" and that works a lot of the time but if I am using a machine... and W is getting a tiny tad deaf.....plus if I am the other side of buildings....
Thanks again mate!:):):)

I have the Baufeng 888 (the older version of the one I linked) and they worked well in the brickhill woodland when we were off roading.
The pmr licence free radios are good for the whole of Europe (they have the CE mark :D ) as they are only .5w

Spent the @fternoon w@shing my mitsi it took @ll @fternoon c@use everyone c@me

Have been shifting logs today from the forest or is it a woods? As thay are a meter long thay are heavy all by shankes pony and shoulder but I stoped at 2 as it started to hail and snow all white for the last 4 hrs but thawed fast their after

When we used UK CBs in France we were very conscious of the fact they were illegal as they are on the wrong wavelength or summat and could interfere with their wellyvision or summat. Which is whydual sets used to exist. But we were told that if the Frogplod stopped ua and saw we had the dual sets we'd still get done.

So nice to know they'll be actually legal!

What we were told was, if we had Europe only sets, we were fine but the dual sets meant we could be naughty and use the UK wavebands. so it'd be assumed whe were poopheads and lickley to do it so presumed guilty until proven innocent.

I have NO idea if this was true, it was well before the internet so not easy to check.
But just checked and it seems the older sets were/are illegal.
