I have had two watches powered by light and receiving a time signal from wherever emits it in the country in question. I hung the first one in the sunlight in France and all the numbers came unstuck!
I'd followed the instructions so took the supplier to the small claims court, they were forced to reimburse me. So I went on't internet and found another cheaper than the money I'd just won. So I bought it swapped the better steel bracelt off the first one, took the crystal off it , and took the fallen numbers out, still worked and looked cool.
So by then I was a watch up. Great!
But first the first one, then the other, the batts gave up.
Typical. so again, they lie in a drawer awaiting my attention!
I used to love telling the kids how green I was with a solar powered watch. They honestly did think it was cool, especially as it had no crown to adjust the time. That came from a time signal from Northumberland!
My daily watch is a Citizen automatic, prolly from the 70s, which keeps excellent time and I can choose to have either the Fench or the English for the days.
It was given to me by a Scottish cleaning lady we had for a while. She found it in the showers in a campsite she did cleaning in. She'd handed it in but no one ever claimed it. She knew I liked watches so she gave it to me.
Interesting lady. She lived in Glasgow as a kid and went to school with Billy Connolly. She couldn't stand him as she knew his persona in real life was not as pleasant as he portrays himself on the TV etc, so she said!
She was a bit odd though herself!
Life is weird sometimes!
22 years is pretty amazing for a capacitor.
So I won't wast time thinking about one then!They are not cheap & if its cheap theres somit wrong with it or its nicked.

Well I think you'll agree uz retired folkz do have to find things to do to fill our time!So you dont have time to wind up a watch but have time to wind up the entire crew of LZ

but I DID say I only tend to use autos OR WIND-UP watches.
I just don't have the time to flip about finding out which batt a watch needs, order one, or a pack of ten, on line, wait for the freaking things to arrive then fit the beggars!
In fact somewhere I have a list of all the different batts I need for various watches butI just CBA. Which is a shame as some of them have immense sentimental value, frinstance the one which is a 24 hour chronograph given to me by W for our wedding, and another she gave me for a birthday or summat.
The batts fiitted by the manufacturers last a heck of a lot longer than the replacements Whic peas me off somewhat.
So you iz "windin me up"!!!

I cant believe you spent time on them....
So the big deal today was a power cut that lasted from just before lunch till 1915 hours.
I made sure two of our Victorian oil lamps had oil and wicks in them.
Then I boiled a kettle on my Primus. I got a bit annoyed as I couldn't get it to hold pressure for a while. You have to wind the bits into the brass tank harder than you'd think!
You'll remember us all talking about how we were going to survive the possible power cuts last winter. I even brought my genny over from Frogland. As we all know this never came to anything.
So I was a bit peeved that said genny was back in Frogland!
And have discovered a wee leak from the reservoir of one of the oil lamps. A weak point is where the reservoir, in thick blue glass, joins the cast iron bit that then screws into the cast base. So cleaning up and a bit of two-part expoxy will be called for.
i wouldn't mind but we seriously have not had very tough weather down here. So we have no idea whay the power cut occurred.
