I'm off to look after my dad today. He has dementia so probably won't know who I am. It is a distressing disease that affects the whole family. I am taking an RC car I have made myself to amuse him, he was an engineer so hopefully it will get through to him.
My mum went the same way, used to talk about all the things she used to do as a kid in Ireland and the things we did as children, she couldn't remember anything recent.
It's a terrible thing and I feel for you mate.

Yup, reminiscing the "memory bump" (the area of long-term, deeply embedded memory) is what we get from the MIL all the time.
She can't remember what happened yesterday or what you talked about last week, but that area of her mind is firmly in place. :(
It can be quite distressing but what else are you to do? We do our best to indulge the old gal, she's not "loopy", shes just not quite with it. Thankfully she has no "Gas" supply to the property, and her electric grill fires are few and far between.
My wife once walked in the back door to find a teacake on fire under the grill while her Mum was sat in the front-room watching TV with the sound at 110% :D

Dunt exactly speak LR to one neever, duzzit? Not for that money mate, I'm certain there are more Landyish watches out there that dunt trade on the brand.

Am not sure but when I was 8 years old I thought it was cool that you could sit in the boot and face out as a kid. Why I wanted one, wouldn't do it now though.
Saab 95 estate with rear facing bench seat, my mates dad had one and he used it a lot, driving along sometimes we let the hatch back fly up and then "machine gun" the car behind. shocked the cars behind for a sec or two.

Things you do as a teenager.

Best of luck. Sympathies, mate. Hope it goes well.

(Wish my dad had been an engineer instead of an effete, musical, artistic, french-speaking accountant! Only male in my family going back generations who wasn't an engineer. Joking, as I loved him to bits. But so many of my mates learned so much from their dads and got given tools as presents etc. My dad didn't even have a tool box, all he had were decorating tools, a naff screwdriver and an adjustable spanner.)

Morning All. :D
The Osteopath really went to town on my back this week, today is DOMS-day (it's pretty sore). :)
She had me gasping as she was treating me and I jokingly said "Wow! is that your elbow you are using on my back?"
YES she replied. The areas she was "un-knotting" were really painful. According to her I am "twisted" (I think she has been talking to my wife ;) ). My left shoulder is UP and my right shoulder is forwards and this may be why upper back is all locked up.
Just call me Quasimodo.
I now have exercises to do and a little diary tick-sheet to complete. :D
Have a great Friday! :D
Glad to hear you are getting some good tweetment! :):):)

And some homework!!!;)

Morning all.
Has rained a bit here. Still a little blowy.
Groceries just been delivered and put away. Pics of a rotten lettuce taken and sent off for a refund.
Musculoskeletal Doc yessdi actooly plays trhe guitar so is very sympathetic towards my hand problems. I am being sent for further x-rays and she is talking about injections and stuff to relieve the arthuritis. Much more positive an outcome than I expected. :)

Every day being a school day I am now reading up on what stuff is called and what it does on tractors as we need to get a small one for our Frog place to keep the undergrowth etc down.
I know 10 tenths of naff all about tractors and their tools so this is a steep learning curve.

If we don't keep it down the town hall might just send a team in to cut it "for us" then send us a whacking great bill.
The area is too big and the weeds grow too high and thick for our normal machine to be able to cope.
So Stan will have to add "Agricultural bush mechanic" to his portfolio.

I am so ignorant about all this stuff. :( Fortunately our son in law uses this sort of stuff daily so he will be a big help. Shame he lives in Worcestershire!

Anyone got a Kubota they don't want? @kevstar ?;) 🤣🤣🤣
At least I have a trailer now ~I can go and get one on.:)

Tai bird is she 🤣 🤣

I am back, sadly he wasn't interested in the car or anything else really. Being 93 may be a milestone but pointless if you don't actually know it :(
Sorry to hear it. :(
I am told that hitting their "memory bump" does get them to engage; so for instance did he have a favourite music style he liked or a singer he used to sing along to? You could try taking a portable player down to let him have a listen to.

Best wishes.
