Just come in from the garage where I have finally managed to get the noo worktop onto trestles to cut it out.
Flipping thing weighs 57 kgs.
You may not think thats a lot.
But I had to faff around to get it onto them.
ANYWAY.
Have been trying to work out how to cut it so that it'll slide in under the tiles I have already put up.
It looks like a long oblong with a smallish rectangular cut out to the right hand corner around some trunking. So it'll be touching walls at both ends as well as the back. and it'll be protruding beyond the tiling at both ends.
Truubblle is, the corners aren't at right angles, obvs. The end walls are slightly out of parallel. And it is wider at the back than the front. Or it would be if it wasn't for the cut out. And the noo one is quite a bit thicker.
Last time I had my ex-s-i-l doing it with me, he the builderer bloke, and we ripped out and replaced the worktops in both the kitchen and the utility in one evening. and one was L shaped. We had to cut and join that one, well he did it! I just made the tea!
So in the utility we positioned one end against the wall then slid the other end down, over the previous tiles, which were thinner and then ........
That is where my memory fails me. Can't remember if the battening was already in place or not.
This time the tiles are much thicker, as is the worktop so I think this way may well be out. And I'll be doing it on my own with possibly a tiny bit of help from W.
I still have the old worktop to use as a template, although I had to saw it in half to get it out. (I hand sawed it so the cut is very thin.)
I have to cut a length off the back anyway as otherwise it'll be too wide, so could experiment with that I suppose.
I can clear the floor but the plumbing for the gas boiler, the two machines and the sink will all have to be there.
Guess I could mess about with the old one, securing the two pieces back together and strengthening it where the sink cut out is then try different ways of getting it in, seeing what I can get away with using the thickness of the tiles.
My problem is I am rubbish at thinking in three dimensions but I'll have to use the third dimension to get it in.
Hey ho!
Sleep well folks!
:):):)

And before you ask why I did the tiling first, the tiling was tricky with mitres in three places plus my back is so dodgy nowadays that leaning over the worktop to do it would be a no go. So I did it first. ;)

Was gonna ask that:rolleyes:.

Buy some cheap board (big bit of cardboard) then you could make a template in CAD:p, before you mess up the expensive worktop;).

Afternoon folks:).

Not been saying much, but been watching, and although some not very nice things been going on at least everybody is dealing with it and staying positive:).

The weather has taken a turn for the good here:). Had a look at our little cherry/plum tree and its getting ready to turn into a puff ball:).

Thinking of starting work outside again while its mild before it starts getting hot.

Also working on a shopping list for the fender for its summer service, all the usual's and probably brakes this time round, so that will include discs and probably bearings while I am in there, Why not;). don't want to be going back in next year:).

Dont want to go vented up front as that would mean I might have to clean it:rolleyes:.

Anyway what day is it? enjoy the rest of the week if theres any left:eek::D.

Oh, It was a sort of celebration day over the weekend here, So we went into town to a new place to watch big thing here and usually involves horses so M was right up for it:).
It was at a big botanical garden. while walking around saw these on the floor.

The ones we saw were more yellow on the ground, I now know what they are cos I looked at the sign on the tree and goggle is your friend:D.

Had an unsuccessful day investigating my flat battery. Battery is a Bosch and 1 year old today. Charging via permanently attached leads while the battery remains on / connected to the vehicle. The CTEK charger would only get it up to 12.2 - 12.3 volts before saying its fully charged and going into monitor mode. Tried 2 times to charge it and after only 1/2 hour it says full. Thought the charger might be getting a false feedback from the tracker which has its own internal battery, or from the BBUS which also has its own battery. So disconnected the permanent supply to the tracker and tried charging again. No change. So disconnected the battery from the vehicle altogether and tried another charge. No joy, still only getting up to 12.2 - 12.3 volts before going into monitor mode. I will try again tomorrow, but with a traditional charger. Three main suspects at the mo are 1. Charger cattle trucked. 2. Multimeter telling porkies. 3. Battery is brown bread. Worst case scenario - its all three
