And while we are on this, does anyone have a nice design of shock absorbing mount for a CD player? as the one in my Disco 2 does tend to make the odd disc jump/skip from time to time.:(
When I took the radio/cd out of me tratter there was a rubber male bung at the back of the unit which locates in a female part on the bulkhead. I had to remove it and fix it to the alpine unit I fitted. If yours is a similar fitting (I understand modern units are made to standard dimensions across different manufacturers) it might not be fitting snuggly?

Me lock. It be from screwdfix. Bolt hole clashed with the old lock which is why it be not square. Eye can lock it from both sides. There be the option of a turny fing ont one side int stead. There be two lengths of lock barrel fer different thicknesses of gates or doors. So make sure yer get the right one if yer want one. Called gatemate. It be yer feind if yer get one.

Yes, there is a cd/dvd player in the car but I was trying to avoid fiddling with the disc when on a long journey, so I thought of putting more than one cd onto a memory stick and just let that play until it gets fed up or I do.:)
Aha! Totally understand you!
I have a box that sits under the driver's seat and will play 12 CDs which is a heck of a lot of listening.
Like you I would not like to have to try and change a CD a one of those single disc jobbies. Wifey has one but never uses it. Her DAB radio which I bought her for her Bday years ago plays stuff off her iPad or iPhone and she loves it to bits, when she isn't listening to to R4 extra. (We listen to books on it on long journeys.)
So best of luck with this!:):):)

(Think maybe this needs its own fred!)

I had a VW camper (bay) in the nineties, an a battery powered boom box for cds, slung with bungees from the bunk mounts :D

Think we are talking about different stuff. My CD player is a separate unit, under the driver's seat.
My Disco 1 had one on a clever shock-absorbing type of mount.
When it packed up, I stupidly took it out and threw it away. Then I replaced it with a Blaupunkt unit, which is OK except connecting it to the subs is still something I have to get to grips with. But my D2 also needs one of these mounts or a design so I can make one! But thanks for the info!
I am not an "icespurt"!

My beloved D2 had the same thing under the seat but I never used - not even once! If I was in the car alone I just had the radio on (VHF or LW as we don't get reception for DAB) but mostly. we were in the car together and we just talked to each other.:)

In 1982 I had a vxhll chevette (company jam jar), no radio as standard. I had a tranny radio suspended from the rear view mirror. A few weeks later the firm changed it for a newer model with a radio, what luxury. You can't tell the kids these days

I had a disaster today, I thought the washing machine was leaking oh no bloody burst pipe, :(
from outhouse into the house where it goes through the wall (2 feet thick) I thought it would be
going into the bathroom but after I lifted the floor answer was nope...
next I lifted the bedroom floor boards to see if it tee'd off nope..
next emptied out the boiler cupboard lifted a board to look along the joists nope ffs
next living room burst 2 floor tiles & cut a section out a floor boards to get look at the back of the bathroom wall got the misses to wiggle the pipe & it moved a power cable I only see it on my
bore scope about 2 feet under. Got a vid on my phone & zoomed in I got a glimpse of pipe insulation
ah-ha got ye ya bastid. Burst another tile out & cut out the floor board some tit has put it diagonal
through the wall & im assuming it goes to a T off the mains coming into the house???
Only assuming as I cant get to the other end as the living room & kitchen its all tiled.
I thought id replaced every pipe in the house years ago but some smart coont hid this one good an
proper, its the only plastic pipe in here & it burst.
The misses fooked off out as the house looked like a war zone. o_O

Offending pipe is now cut & a isolated valve fitted new pipe will be here at 9am tomorrow :D

I tend not to play music when we are together, we don't have the same taste, a lot of the time. We do natter as well, but when spending the whole day in the car, like when driving down through France, a story lets Wifey do her knitting or whatever. ;):)
