It is for me as I usually get up at 4:45 to walk the dog...... :)

See above :D
We too get up during the night to let three dogs out! more than once usually.
But we don't WALK them, we just open the door and out they go!
Then straight back to bed!
Putting clothes on, finding a lead? Hmm!
Would rather train him her to use a tray wiv a fing on it like we do for puppies!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Strangely I actually enjoy it. I am a morning person. I like to get up early and get things done while the world sleeps :)

Anyways, got up latish as Wifey was supplying wind all night as well as the weather, poor thing. She took the first dose of the dreaded stuff last night 7p.m and the dreaded exam isn't until tomoz 9.30 a.m. so she still has a lot to go through, or, to put it another way, a lot to go through her!;)
I've done it and it isn't fun. :(:(
So thort I'd go into renewing my insurance on the Disco. Have to go with SAGA as they are the only company giving year round foreign cover.
Was pleasantly surprised to find it is only £3 more expensive than last year!
However, with the demise of ADAC for Brits, we now need foreign breakdown recovery. SAGA want £124! EEK!
So I did the Comparison site thing for a 3 month trip. none of the barstewards would even quote!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
Moral of the story, don't try and drive an old car on the Continong unless you take your own breakdown truck with you!
FFS, I used to be able to get it for kit cars!!!!
So i'll take a deep breath then break it to Wifey!:(:(:(
(Better take her a cup of tea at the same time.;););))

How often have you need breakdown cover?
I know the time you don’t have it you will need it;).
Fort you were going to be towing wife’s car so if you break down switch;) but I bet wifeys can’t tow:oops:.

Come on you tight git £124 sounds cheap for European cover, don’t you go for more than 3 months?
Can’t you get french cover?
We have RR cover for ours (free:D) mind we do pay for it as the main services are down at the stealer.
Oh and we get green cards automatically here (free)

Apart from that hope whatever Mrs Steamers checks are, they go well:).

Afternoon folks:)

Well what should have been a good week went all a bit pair shaped:(.

So had a great, albeit a bit chilly ride in on the bike on Tuesday. Got insurance for 2 bikes and the beast ( less than £300 for all including green card, only third party though), so that’s a thumbs up:D.

Down to the MOT place and a pass no issue, it’s funny how when you take a rare bike in that all of a sudden loads of technicians appear;):D.
Off I go home:), get home empty pockets from all the leather;), where’s me ****ing wallet:eek:.
Not there:mad::mad:. In car and back track (60km) please no. Anyway 5km down the road I see a piece of paper. It’s an ATM ticket with my name on it, then a few more:) so walked the road (looking like a hooker;)) but found nothing. So off to the police station to report it, then home and cancel cards.
Back into town yesterday to pickup new cards for the BG account, (yep printed on site:D).

As the weather was going to be ****ty we ate in town and stayed at a local hotel (£30 for 2) for our COVID jab today.
So early morning walk 08:15 to the hospital for the jab :D no there’s been a **** up and they didn’t get the vaccines:mad::mad:
So next week is renew ID , driving license and try find somewhere to get a little prick:D

Think I should write most of this week off :D Rant (ish) over.

...that Daffyd has had some more attention from her-indoors (the sarcastic artistic one in the family).
20210311_164013.jpg

He is looking quite good, I must say.

It seems a shame to put it so high out of the way! My FIL made one and put it on a frame like the one you made (it was a tad lighter!).
Looking forward to the pic of it spinning in the wind :)
It will be readily visible as it will only be 4M off the ground. It is a "frippery" that herself wanted me to make for her.
As a man that gets to buy whatever he wants (within reason) I could hardly say NO. :)
I have tested the arrow part for wind-direction spinning, and it's really good.
Daffyd will need a huge amount of wind to make him turn, but I can fix that too! ;)

Are you fitting bearings in the rotational tube? If yes, perhaps an additional thrust bearing on the base to take the pressure off?

The arrow is passed through a tube with a 28x12x8 roller bearing in the middle.
I can do the same for Daffyd and then IF the wind is particularly strong... he will spin too.
The vertical shaft is a 12mm round bar.

Hate to say this, but so far never needed breakdown cover, but, as you say, the one time you've not got it, you'll need it. (Wifey needed it twice, once with ther Chesil speedster where i told the Frog mechanic in great detail with drawings and diagrams in French, how to fix it. The prick didn't do what I asked so once she eventually was able to make the journey, about 300 miles from home to pick it up, it bruk down again at a service station. Luckily some lorry drivers got her going. Other tiem she drove off the road into a farmer's field, got no signal on her mobile, but a coupla guys helped her back onto the road. I once had a diesel return pipe on the 300tdi split so i was losing a bit of diesel, but ficxed it myself onece i could get off the Autoroute and to a "Norauto".
Since posting I got back on to SAGA and they have changed from AA to the RAC to provide their break down cover AND it now runs for as long as the policy. so for £124 it was a no brainer.
Funnily 3 or 4 years ago I mentioned to them that it was mad to have insurance cover for international travel 52 weeks a year but breakdown cover for only 90 days. The blokey said he would refer it up. So I went with ADAC which was a fantastic deal, sadly they only work with Germans now.
So i do wonder if they had a change of heart, once this idiocy was pointed out to them.
Also knocked £30 off my premium by going with a lower mileage, as like so many, we aren't using our wheels as much as usual.
If I bruck down, Wifey's Pluriel couldn't tow a trailer plus 2.1 tons of Disco!
So no, I am tight but not stupidly so, and yes, Green cards are free, In fact they are no different to what we have always had.
We did think that if things got too bad we would maybe buy a French car, only problem would be garaging it, as i have yet to build one.:(
But once the present sh!t situation has settled down, I intend to build one and move my project works over there as realistically I do feck all in the winter over here.
Wifey and I aren't worried about her check. It is down to the usual prob of blood in the regualr stolls test they do. She did have polyps once but not since. It is just a pain going through it. But with Diverticulitis, Gluten intolerance, C-Diff, etc, this is only to be expected, sadly.:(
Will all be over by Friday lunchtime prolly!
