That makes sense, and in that link I put up it mentions many lubricants that are very water soluble.
Such a shame about the dermatitis.
No elf n safety in them days.
To think that nowadays you so rarely see a mechanic NOT wearing gloves.
In my yoof I used to coat my hands in washing up liquid, rubbing it right in until it was dry. It worked a treat as then any oil I had on my hands washed off easily, but it didn't work if I was dealing with coolant.
I used to use barrier cream, but now like most, I use tough gloves which are a lot better than they used to be. Frinstance I only used two pairs all yesterday. :)

Back when I was serving my time we got a state of the art brake disc skimming machine :D
I used to use the metal filings off it & Swarfega to scrub my mits haha took the skin clean off
squeaky clean for the weekend out pulling birds :D:D

I must remember that one!
Did you used to go to the sort of clubs where you used to have to wear a jacket and tie, for the punch ups that occurred late on? Tiffany's was where that used to go on, when the females weren't dancing round their handbags while the blokes stood at the bar saying "I don't fancy yours much!" Bring back the 70s! Loved them!

Me too but maybe for different reasons! The patter, well they could hardly hear it in there! The looks? Well, not too bad and always better in a suit!
But the moves...... well I was a seriously good disco dancer and I learned early on that that was respected by the fairer sex.
So I didn't say a word, just went to the floor and started moving. Sometimes on my own. After a while a likely lass would come up and start dancing with me. My mates were seriously jealous, especially the good looking ones!
Wonder if we'd have made a good team!? (if the Sassenach burds could unnerstand your accent!):D:D:D;););)
