2 weeks ago i put in new thermostat

flushed and back flushed the system, fitted new temp guage and sender
flushed exspansion bottle

filled with new coolant..completely cleaned the rad front and rear which took 2 hrs

I would pressure test the heads - sort it now before the summer comes, as it isn't anywhere near as warm as it will be! By the sounds of it, there has been some overheating issues, which havn't been resolved through sensor changes etc - so would look into headgaskets.

geezzz man.... you should have never sold your 90! never seen you post so many issues since you got this rangie!

hope its nothing too difficult to sort though!

lets hope so,im paranoid about temp in all the landys ive had..the v8s always run hotter but this is too hot, dunno if its guage/sensor but they are new and matched

ok now im even more confused i connected up the digital temp guage that i was gonna fit in the first place today and now im getting two diffent readings(see pic)

if i remove the filler tank cap and the rad cap whilst the engine is running the water is pushed out of the top of the rad filler hole
dont know if thats relevant tho

the top rad hoses arnt pressureised you can squeeze them and here the water being moved in the filler tank so im assuming water is moving although you cant keep hold of the pipe too long as its bloody hot

if in reality lets say the digi guage is correct would the pipes at 40oc be that hot that you couldnt grab hold of them?

i know my boss has one of those digi pointy temp thingys that i could borrow of him and see what sort of readings im getting

anyone any suggestions as to find out what guage is correct?

The rad cap is lower than tbe themostat, so water will **** out of the rad. If yu have the plastic bungs (v8???) then replace with brass ones. I have them and the digital thermostat if that helps. I think Rats has too and he mite be closer, but busy.

Anything I can do - shout.

check the thermostat tyhats what we call them in the usa. open the water supply when warm from the raditor to water jump to the engine. hope you get the idea, learning the difference of what things are calledbetween usa and uk

would think the dial gauge is reading correctly if hose hot enough to burn you. odd that digi is reading about half what dial is.
