dont really wanna replace the 4.2 v8 tho:eek:

wot harm will no stat do?

none, if its getting up to temp and more without stat, it's already fooked. head gasket or prolly liner due to excessive heat. just run it without stat and keep an eye on the water level. vogues yer man to speak to with this engine but you'd be looking at 1200 ish for a re-conned block. try some iron tight in it, might catch it,

Did you remove the rad from the vehicle to clean it or just hose it while fitted?

Have you checked for any hot or cold areas on the surface of the rad?

You may have to take the fans/cowling off the rad to do this. DO NOT POKE YOUR FINGERS BETWEEN THE FANS UNLESS THEY ARE UNPLUGGED AND WITH THE FUSE REMOVED
tbh no because the rad housing is so fecking hot you dont wanna get anywhere near it

the rad was claned in situ using a hose pipe with engine coverd to protect the electrics

cleaning from the rear was easy with the fan housing removed

the front i removed grill to get to it but there is a fooking great oil cooler running accross the front of the rad which i sort of had to clean thru to get to the rad

fook dat,if it came to it i would prob whack a 3.9 in it you can pick them up cheap

Sounds like you'll still have a fair amount of mud in the cavity then.
mmmmm...the water did run clean when cleaning front and back of the rad and sem to flow thru the fins thats not to say it isnt tho..

looks like i might have to buy the 3rd lot of anti freeze and drain the system again:mad:
will have to see if i can get the rad out to clean it then

thanks for sticking with it 3.5efi and ratty and for the replys im at the end of me tether with it and cant bring meself to go play in it as i hate to keep looking at the temp gauge every 2 mins

the seven sisters trec is off untill i can resolve the issues as i wouldnt feel happy taking it all that way and it fooking up on me or not being able to enjjoy the weekend

I cant see why yu need a new lot of antifreeze, drain what yu have into a bucket and re-use it.

But before you do that yu really need to get a remote thermometer and check the temps in various places so that you know what temps actually are.

If yer a lazy git you could try shing a torch through to help spot what you missed. seperating the rad and oil cooler is by far the best option.

No probs. Summit tells me you aren't the first and won't be the last to suffer from 'revenge of the salisbury mud';)

drain it into a bucket and re use it (i'm yorkshireish) alternately, just use water till you figure it out, not like you'll be doing loads of mileage.

flush the rad internally, both top and bottom and shake it about a bit.
