The V12 is stupid heavy and not designed/adapted for off-road use. You can make anything fit, but why would you want to?
Only about 300bhp from a V12, better to fit a tuned Rover V8, same power much lighter. They go good supercharged, I've had one.

Fair comment, but his question was in light of a review he had read that said that, in the reviewers opinion, the V12 gave the smoothest ride he had ever experienced - of course suspension and dampers would have had some effect there. His interest then went on to ask whether the extra power produced might prove useful.

Keep to the V8. Tried and tested and more than powerfull enough for anyone.
Why do some people go for a V12? bragging rights down the pub. Thats all. The fact that anything is possible so they did it and "I have more cylinders than you do" Syndrome.
Smooth. Yes, very! Wide, Long and frickin heavy. Rear main seals pee out, cranks blow out the main bearings and loss of oil pressure slowly kills the rest of the engine. Overheating is another issue. So many problems. I just dont see any advantages.
The basic jag gearbox case is in reality the only common component between gearboxes. it is my understanding you will need a new imput shaft and bellhousing from the older jag and TRY to make the rest work with changed internals. If anyone knows different who rebuilds gearboxes please chip in.
They are called LT77 because this range of gearbox has 77mm between main shaft and lay shaft centres.
They are using these in some of the stretched bonnet trick 109 landrovers the germans are converting into roadsters.
If you want to make a 109 fit for use on a "smokie and the bandit" film set you just need a new but std 3.5 V8! The old shagged engines from rangies and SD1s might seem a massive step up in power but a new rebuild proper is hugely unbelievable fun.
Used with our 5litre Stroker kit, and our Merlin F85 cylinder heads, we obtained 337bhp at 5500rpm, and 352ft lbs of torque at 4500rpm.
The engine weighs in still under 200kgs and enough power to send your layshaft exploding through the bottom of your gearbox in a shotgun like fashion!
Add a centrifugal supercharger and a decent intercooler and you can add an easy 50%. After that the bottom end needs serious race engine treatment.

The guy from Suzuki Mods UK put a Jag V12 in his Vitara, but then he did have a mental break down and go off the rails. Bit of a Frankenstein monster thing going on there i think. The moral to this story, don't dream up strange vehicles in your workshop or they may escape and kill people or something.

Keep up the practicing Kai. Rome wasnt built in a day. How many other kids have welding practice in your year at school?
Some hints.
Sounds like a little less wire speed needed. Remember if the torch gets pushed away you need more power or less wire.
Keep the torch held firm, a short distance from the work and controlled. Try not to waver.
Make sure the work is very clean before you start.
Hook up with jai and come around one evening for a quick play at my gaff.
If you have been welding for a while and it starts going wrong for no real reason let the welder cool down, it may be getting near to the point of shutting down under its own heat. They often seem to lack power just before they shut down. I am not sure why. It is just an observation.
