So did I this weekend...... replacing the front wheel bearings cured the 50mph death wobble.
well I got the spare steering box from Jai so just waiting to get that fitted. Not sure how long it will take so having to wait until I dont need to get the kids from school. If that dont get rid of the wobble then the bearings are high up on the list!:D

Ryder Like I said that box was ****ing out and I got fed up of filling the damn thing up so I swapped it for an unknown box so it musta really ****ed me orf to swap for an unknown one. But its better than your one for sure!

This thread has gone pretty quiet over the last few days :(

Ryder did you hear any more about these scaffolding poles? Would you be able to put one on your roof and bring it to the pub?

My hi lift, I will try and mount on the side of the roof rack.

Been busy looking for a car to replace my Espace. tried everywhere to find something. Test driving a Subaru on Saturday and BMW 5 Series Touring on Sunday, should be fun.

There is a nut on the steering box... fixed in plce by a tab washer. Jamie says it is 34 or 35 mm but I don't have anything big enough...

Does anyone have anything of that particular size that Icould borrow... and equally, since I now have no steering box in the motor could I cajole them into bringing it over here tomorrow for the price of a cuppa tea?

chris you never said you took it off.

How do you think you will get it undone? Its a big nut and fookin tight. I think you'll end up bolting kt back up cos it should be bloody tight!

Jai, about wales.. I think you mentioned you were taking part in the Thurrock event on the weekend before (23rd+24th). I think I may go on the saturday to visit my relative in pembrokeshire (crymych if you want to look it up) and stay for a couple of days. When were you thinking of going so we can do some lanes south to north and meet everyone else in north wales? Where are we starting as a group in north wales?

Ryder, any news on these scaffold poles?

Jack

landroverjack I am guessing the poles went to another person. I have watched for a reply and not got one so I have to say I don't think its going to happen. Sorry!

Jai I should have said mate... we got the steering box out... but need to transfer the drop arm from mine to yours... hence the need for the big bertha of spanners/sockets. Can't drive the damn thing so I am just hoping to get it going again tomorrow so the kids can go to school on Monday. I do have a pair of stilsons but I really do not want to **** up the nut and suspect that the best way will be to usethe proper tool for the job. I'll have another root around the garage in the morning, maybe I have overlooked something.

Bloody hell.... THAT TIGHT! Refitting is not too much of an issue. Kai is going to **** HIMSELF when he finds out how tight that bugger is gonna be!

Tomorrow's going to be fun I reckon!

Cheers Chris! I don't need luck, I need a slap for driving so poorly last time! and more time driving my 90. I've been out of it for too long actually quite fun getting back into it again!

Don't think I'll get many pics but the club may get a few.

Good luck with your drop arm. I would refit it up 4 bolts and undo it. make sure you have anew lock washer and get my one up. I did say it did leak enough for me to change it which says alot!

I know it leaks but it can't be providing the fountain that mine does at the moment and if it does me for a while, even till after wales, then it is a bonus for me and i shoudl be able to replace it afterward! :)
