Looks like I'm taking the sump off tomorrow night to check the pick up pipe. And before anybody says it, yes I did prime the pump. Looks like a case of Range Rover Revenge - anybody got a cure lol!!

Rangie,

They should be ok got a 20 tonne press makes light work of the stubbornest bushes! well I'm hoping to change my alternator tomorrow fit new brake lines to my axle and remove the old rear axle and possibly refit new one. Been seriously thinking about an onboard pc to run mapping, gps software and sound system. I'll do some more thinking and let you know what I decide. memory map would be great with a decent touch screen. Jai

Just out of interest Kev how did you prime the pump? Vasolene or lecky drill through the dizzy? Jai

Did the leccy drill manouvre after turning engine on starter with king lead removed.

After that tried injecting oil with big oil syringe through return pipe from oil cooler (coz it was easy to get at) and also through pressure switch mount. Also, left oil cooler pipe disconnected and turned the engine over and also did the drill trick again. Not a drop of oil was seen.

Removed pressure switch did it all again, only a dribble!! No sticking or grinding noises on pump drive so as far as I can tell the pump is working its' just not picking up oil. What ya thinkin??

I would have said if you used vasolene, to go for the drill method but you already have, its always worked in the past. I know people say that if the old gears have been removed and refitted to be in the exact same way as they wear together if the idler gear was put in upside down they would not mesh as well or pump as well. But I know you have probably put them back as was. Sorry Don't know. :-( Jai

Thanks mate, I don't know either:mad:

The drill method has always worked for me in the past, the cordless slows down and gets hot as soon as the pump is doing its' thing so I know when it has primed. this time no joy.

What I might do is drop the sump, remove pick up and strainer, give 'em a clean then with the oil syringe pump oil into the pickup pipe and take it from there. Will get it sorted eventually. Can't wait to get back out on the lanes.

Cheers.

Rangie, Remember if the cage is to be certified it has to pass MSA requirements to be classed as a legal cage for comps. Even Jamies one is now technically no good as somone has drilled into the frame to mount lights. It shouldn't pass an MSA inspection. Welding should be up to scratch there are so many cages that shouldn't be used. check out the MSA Blue Book for requirements. Jai

Update on Tonka. DB fitted Crank and Pistons tonight. I attacked passenger bucket seat subframe. Tomorrow test fit of engine, I recon Battery Box will have to come off and relocate to under passenger seat, which is no loss really, as bucket seat has put paid to me using the seat locker, so I might as well stick the battery in it.
O/S engine mount will need refabricating for sure as Injector Pump fouls.
I can lose the Series Vacuum Tank, as the new engine doesn't need it. Gives a bit more room for the raised air intake pipework.
Really good to see things going back together.:D Loads still to do though.

Kev sorry you've still got engine woes.
