Diesel cranks but does not start, some V8's also crank but don't start, others dont crank, can never remember if it's Gems or Thor that don't crank.

Thank you - helpful to know as in the future I may consider another which could throw this issue up. Mine is a Gems with immobiliser starter full lock out.

I've tried, but when i try to go into the "advanced settings" it's coming up as locked :( will the Syncmate work around this and re code? really appreciate your help by the way!
All BECM's are normally locked and it is possible to re-sync. However it is possible for the BECM to go into a security locked condition where it cannot be accessed, rick the pick is your man if this has happened.
You need to either try your Lynx on another car if anyone is willing to let you read the BECM as a test, or better try to borrow a syncmate.
You really need to contact Omitec to find out if your Lynx is supposed to be able to do a re-sync.

Not sure the Lynx can do it, only on GEMS....as attached...

If ECM is Engine Control Module, it looks like it can't sync anything although on the petrol it's an automatic re-sync I think. BECM is tagged for maintenance etc

Hi guys. Has anybody got a syncmate a could use for my 2.5 td P38? I've plugged my Lynx in but it wont re sync it, i'm just getting fault code 27. Any help would be appreciated.

I resynced AP90's 2.5 TD with my Lynx after we had to change the EMS type. You copy the number in the EMS and enter it into the BECM - or the other way round - can't remember now.

I think it's the other way round, you write the number from the EDC into the BECM

Makes sense - anyhow the Lynx does do it. But it's not a one click operation.

The main P38 omissions from the Lynx capabilities are:-
- Cannot cycle/calibrate blend motors - Omnitec claim to be working on that.
- Cannot edit EAS settings - can only do testbook T4 type full calibration requiring calibration blocks. So Datatek's cable and EASunlock is a must as a Lynx owner unless you have calibration blocks.

.
They all work the same way for a re-sync as far as I know, read the EDC, then write the number to the BECM. So at least the OP knows Lynx can do it, just needs to swot up on the user guide.:)

If he has a message "Engine disabled" and the engine will not turn over the EMS is NOT out of sync with the BECM. With that out of sync the engine will turn but won't start. The alarm is active. Press the fob with the key in the ignition.

I've come to the conclusion that the Lynx will definitely NOT sync the ECM & BeCM. I've been through the system and instructions, reading every word twice. I've bit the bullet and bought a syncmate. Hopefully that will arrive Tuesday. I have no Disable message on the dash, My key works via RF and I've still got "ANTI THEFT" CODE 27 showing :scratching_chin::frusty:

Does the engine turn over but not fire?

Looking at what Ant posted earlier it won't. A few things it can't do actually. Maybe not the best one to have bought. :);)

But StuckAgainSteve just said a few posts ago that he's synced the ECM and BECM on a diesel P38 so it should be possible. No idea why it doesn't work on yours though.

Me neither, I'm officially mined FU$K*D. You're just around the corner in Durham, You haven't got a sync mate have you? lol

I really hope so. I've got a couple of Defenders and though I'd try out a P38 (for comfort) looks like she'll have to sit on the drive a few more days. I'll keep you all posted when I try it. Cant wait to hear the old girl fire up and live on!

Had another look at Ants post. It says Lynx can program BECM so if he can read the security code from ECM he should be able to write it to the BECM. So it maybe possible. Whether the BECM is locked or not is of no relevance.
