I'm sure if BMW wanted it exact, they would have said so.

Mines always 750-760ish. Only in the cold dead of winter when you start up it takes second to settle. It’s the not the figure that would bother me but why they likely adjusted it. Most commonly to try stop it cutting out letting off throttle when FIP is past it.

I think the idle speed range is to do with tuning out vibration, at 750rpm on the project car there is resonant vibration from various bits of the interior, so maybe that's why it's came to me set to 780. My other one has less vibration and is set to 750. Both sit at 1200 from cold briefly.
