Hello,

I'm posting this here, because I can't think where else to post it, to be quite honest.

I've just come from under my 110, where I'd intended to grease the propshafts and whatever else presented an accessible grease nipple. I had to give up, though, as my grease gun wouldn't pressurise.

After a few attempts at loading and reloading the cartridge, I discovered that the plunger was stuck at the bottom of the gun and wasn't going up inside the cartridge. So, all enthusiastic like, I took the grease gun apart to see why this was/wasn't happening. Unfortunately, I didn't realise I was unscrewing the handle and when the piston released from it, it was fired into the back of my container/shed, never to be seen again.

Anyway, I still had enough of the grease gun to try fitting the piston inside the cartridge and it doesn't bl**dy fit! The plunger is the same diameter as the cartridge outer, so it's never going to fit! Have I just got a cheap grease gun with the wrong size plunger inside it or am I doing something incredibly stupid here?

Any advice, rolling eyes, shaking heads, stroking of beards gratefully received,

Thanks :)

I bought this one the other week from Amazon relatively cheaply;
Hilka 84800120 Manual Grease Gun Set Pro Craft

Thanks both :)

I was tempted by a grease gun off a WWII tank that turned up on eBay recently, but everything I read said they're a bit of a pain to fill as you can't bleed them.

That one off amazon looks good enough for me - and it comes with a cartridge, so they must fit in the stupid thing!

Fit the plunger into the cartridge and push the cartridge down into the grease gun with the plastic cap on the top. The plunger will hold it down. Then take the cap off and screw the top on. Lastly push the plunger lever up.

Top tip: file a couple of flats on the tip of the nozzle once you get it sorted - it will then fit more easily into the tight space between the yokes of the propshaft. Personally I use the old school non-cartridge type gun.

Air locks in manual grease guns really pee me off!
What pees me off most is grease not getting into the prop uj's and squirting all over the outside of the uj. Due to the awkward angles and needing 3 hands to hold the gun, operate the lever and keep the nozzle in line. While lying under the landy on the driveway. Messy. :mad:

Decent grease gun ends help, I have found the best and smallest so far to be the ones from machine mart, I have taken the grinder to ones before to narrow the ends down so its easier to get them into the u/j yoke.
Also helps to have a hwwel of the floor to make rotating the prop easier, whatever you do it can be a pain.
Extended nipples help as well!
