Right, I'm fed up with my gearbox. It's lovely and 'snicky' one minute, then the next all the gears are blocked and I find myself free-wheeling down the road with pressure building in my head as I stir the lever thinking out loud and through a forced grin to the wife "It's in there somewhere"
It's been getting gradually worse, with a 'constant' being the great difficulty getting into 2nd when first setting off. The at-speed 3rd/4th (particularly) blocking is just the cherry on the cake.
Looks like Monday I'll be phoning AW Transmissions for a box and getting a Valeo OEM clutch on route too (NB. the bearing's hummed in reverse for as long as I've had it).

But before I do...does this sound like a sensible course of action to you much more mechanically-minded folk out there?

if your stirring the gears remove the consloe etc and have a look at the bias plate on gear box top

Thanks James but, sorry, I forgot to say. I replaced the fractured bias plate with a slickshift a month ago (yes, more money than sense perhaps...but it really does make a difference to that 'snickiness')...but the change has stayed erratic.
When I say stirring, it's only stirring within the confines of the side-to-side 'neutral' space, not round and round.
Once the engine's up to temp I guess we're looking at the problem every 20th change or so...as long as I'm slow and precise with the changes: I drove 50mls return to Skipton like this last w/e and it didn't miss a beat. When cold, I just want it to get hot...if you see what I mean.

stick should be sprung so as its in direct 3rd and 4th alignment and push over for the other, maybe plates badly adjusted

Well, after a weekend of bimbling the roads between Kendal and Skipton I can confirm...there is nothing bloody wrong with my gearbox! However, by conciously judging every [b****y] gearchange I'm left thinking that you're probably right James, a slight 1-2mm nudge of the bias plate to the right will hopefully sort all this out.
Keep you on your toes these things don't they?!
