The pumps do have Different output's this are Determined by the numbers stamped on the pumps not just the last three ending Digits. Thus no matter what remapping you do or what power box you put on you can not change the pumps top end output it's as simple as that.like I said there are certain pumps that lack this on range rovers ...,
 
i will try find out more, am not saying it can't be remapped but apperntly one of the pumps basically has a lesser top end range so now matter what you remap at it hasn't got the last bit needed . I may be wrong I'm not perfect but I get hold of him and find out what he was on about .

As far as i have seen all BMW derivatives fitted to standard cars have the same power rating and RPM range. 143 BHP max rpm 4600. But slightly different torque outputs dependant on the vehicle. This will be down to mapping. The P38 is given as 136 BHP max rpm 4600. But a slightly different torque band. This will also be down to mapping. On the P38 fuel shut off begins at 4400 rpm under load i can't find figures for the BMW for this. But that is done electronically not mechanically. We know the P38 ECU will not talk to various BMW and Vauxhall electrics. We also know that the attachment boss varies in size and cannot be swapped over. But basically i believe apart from the electrics all the pumps are mechanically the same unit. I cannot see why as they are all fitted to the same engine they would be different. It would be interesting to know exactly what the various part numbers mean broken down. The pump fitted to the P38 is i believe NRO 460 406 994 VE R 515. The only thing i know about that is that R means right hand rotation.:)
