Or put a scribe line across the right or left hand bolt position bosses and line it back up with a mirror. :):)

Good man yourself thanks for this johnny. Be good if you could send it all of for inclusion in the how to's as yours is very useful and thanks. Bosch specalists quoted 540 plus v for off vehicle refurb. Take it just the seal pack, socket or replacement bolt and inlet gaskets are all you needed?

That £540 would be for internal seals aswell and cleaning and testing, way beyond DIY a few outer seals are fine for most people.

yup - and a lot of patience as it's just so awkward to get to and even harder to ensure you have the plunger in the cup! Would be much easier off the car - but then you are into hours and hours of work - and specialist tools

also I needed 2 spare inlet nuts as 1 was missing and 1 fell behind the alternator and I can't find it??

I was using a magnetic extension bar - I have no idea how I dropped it - just 1 of those things lol

So - as mine is a 2000 Model

did all the diesel engines have the same FIP fitted?

would a 1996 fit a 2000??

According to RAVE they were all the same pump. I cant see any differentiation between MYs unless anyone is willing to correct.Difference for the MYs in doing this procedure is only the EGR removal (mine (97) doesnt have it). So should make it quicker. Stupid Q but I take it for just the upper and middle seal there's no need for special tools to play about with timing providing the covers fit back in the same position?

And just out if interest how did your quanitiy potentiometer stop look? Was it worn out as i cant see from the pics. TA

Pump timing is not effected by removing top of pump.

The ones that come out of omiga/ BMW cars are internally set differant
For a better mid range when fitted to ranger rover cars a loss of top end is appernt...

Nop think Omega ones are the same pump, BMW is different part number and won't work on a Rangie..
