Hi,
Sorry to go off topic, but may I ask what size of tyres you are running and whether it has spacers and/or a lift kit?

Thanks.

They are 225 x 75 x 16's, no wheelspacers but not much clearance between bottom spring cup & tyre, about 14 mm

well done! that will shut some jealous mouths

just one thought; is it a good idea to use a Disco as a ground anchor? they rust away so easy :D

Depends what engine you have Steve, as believe it or not all front ends aren't the same under the skin.

For early 1.8 and L-series MY'98-00 we currently develop other type of side brackets. :) . I would like to fit it to mine, but some changes are needed.
Cars from MY'98-00 have other (shorter) chassis rails design, lower front crossmember is a little bit different too. Also all pre-facelift bumpers will have winch more exposed than facelift - except V6.

One of my customers is fitting his later this week to try it out, he has the same front end as Steve so we'll see how it looks when its all put together

The main thing is what you can found under bumper.
This one above looks like 1.8/L-series (MY98-00) or one of first batch of Td4 (MY'2001 - have amber indicators too, green gauges with little change of lettering). It have exterior fittings changed for black revisions from later one.

Your clients have amber or clear indicators ?

so it will be only more exposed i think. :) , looking for some photos as mine will have the same "problem", or even more problems ;)

I dont think they stopped using amber indicators after a certain year. I had a 2003 model for parts that had amber ones.

They do ;) as microcat says

MY 98-00 (YA) - Amber indicators all around, gray bumpers
MY 2001 (1A) - Clear front indicators, amber side repeaters, gray bumpers
MY 2002 -(2A)- Clear indicators all around, black bumpers,

I had a 2003 model for parts that had amber ones.
There is possibility of accident, and fix with cheaper parts, or someone change it because like it.

A great set of photos. Will this set up work on my freelander. It is an 02 plate 2ltr TD4. Please can you tell me What are the components you have used to get this great set up and what make is the winch?

Kieran, the winch bracket will fit your TD4 in its current configuration, it will be more exposed than on my facelift owing to different bumper shape, it was specifically designed for the Warrior Samurai 9500SD winch, if anyone else makes a Shortdrum winch that may also fit but can't guarantee it. As you can see from the pics the design works a treat, if you want one I have some left :)

so, are these brackets in production now??

and second question, would it fit behind this bumper?

if not, are there any other options
Going by your reg thats either an L series Like Lukas has or a 1.8 petrol, the centre part of the bracket which is the winch tray will exit where your number plate is the two side mounting brackets in there current form will not fit, we are working on changing the design of the side brackets to fit your model and eventually all models in the Freelander 1 range. I guess you have looked at the pics of the bracket before it was installed. I have moved my number plate onto the roof rack but when I first installed the winch I made some "standoff" spacers & installed it in front of the fairlead, if you want a bracket just let me know :)
