Hey everyone, just a small post about my recent purchase.
As the title says I bought myself a 2001 Defender 110, came with lots of toys already attached and plenty of gadgets inside as well! Just had it put in for an MOT and it passed (after £650 worth of work was done). She runs great and is a true work horse, and I'm sure she won't let me down anytime soon, not majorly anyway.
She does have her problems like most old Land Rovers do (so I've heard), the battery likes to drain itself if it's left still for more than 48 hours and needs a jump start to get her breathing again. There's electrical wires everywhere in the front and I can't even describe what it's like under the passenger seat.
But apart from the electrical problems she's truly awesome, gonna need some TLC and lots of hard work over weekends and probably most of my wage pumped into her but I'm determined to get her in good working order!
I will update this thread as I do more work to her with pictures/written updates.
Cheers folks!

Thanks! Indeed it is haha, always loved them since I was a kid so I thought I'd go ahead an get one, it's also my first car so a few firsts going on there!

Yeah you cant be the classic 110, its what we all considered the Land Rover. Do it now whilst you have the time and money then enjoy forever. Mine was full of issues but a few years in I don't need to do too much and they are very reliable. Once you break the back, the odd major project every few years but that's fine.

There's no major jobs as far as I can tell so far, obviously the electrics need sorting and finding out where the drain is coming from, reconnect a few things like outside work lights etc but apart from that it's only the doors that need replacing because they've suffered pretty bad corrosion, but I've already got them it's just a case of getting them sprayed and then putting them on! I'm sure if I look hard enough there'll be other odd jobs for me to potch about with though.

i don't actually know how old the battery is off the top of my head, they look pretty new though when I poked my head in. I'd take a guess that the starter battery is probably about 3-4 years old and the other bigger battery is probably around 2 years old, I'll have to look through all the records and try and find a reciept somewhere!
