+ mine is an edc pump.
Current thinking is to strip this one for£££ and any profit can go on a rotten 200tdi disco which will provide spares for the fender and the series.

If you did use yours I got a standard 300 VE pump which would bolt straight on...

It's all very tempting but the disco is only returning 20mpg. I keep hearing about people getting 30mpg out of 200tdi's.
Never been sure why mine was so low. It's decated, de-egr'd. I know the auto boxes are not great, but it's done 181k well serviced miles, but it's drunk hundreds of litres of svo. Open to ideas as I know the TD engine is going to drive me barmy.
Rotten 200tdi diso's are currently going for £500, most of that could be got bak on spares / scrap weight?
Decisions, decisions.

My auto gets 24-25mpg all the time & my 200tdi (manual) did 32mpg on the way to wales. I'd go with a manual 200 or 300.
The TD will drive you mad after the first 100yds & still getting 20mpg, If you had never driven a 300 you would be ok with it.

I cut the engine mounts off my disco donor and welded them on my defender chassis. It sits further forward...

Just changed the valve stem seals with the head still on as it was smoking on start up. Loads better but found out why one of my tappets was so far out the other day. The cap that sits on top had worn away & was sitting on the rocker arm & a second one had started pitting.
Look's like my engine has a lot more milage on it than the the last bloke thought.

The price went up :( but I'm still having it :D
Its a diesel turbo and i have been thinking about my engine but i read somewhere that a 200tdi is a simple job and a 300 requires adaptations to mounts and where it joins the gearbox?

Put flywheel housing from Td onto 300 and lt77 gearbox in fender then bolts onto 300tdi nicely and I think the left hand engine mount is fine you just need to reweld right hand mount to chassis or is it left hand mount needs welding and right hand bolts strait up one or the other:D;) also easier to adapt egg sauce as turbo is further forward than with 200 Tdi conversion;)

Drop the whole lot in 300 lump with gearbox and Tbox, get it on the gearbox mounts and then weld the engine mounts where they need to go. Props will then be ok and gear levers in correct place, if yours is EDC then you will need to change the pump, injectors and the solid pipes from pump to injector. Its quite easy, we just put one into a E reg RR classic it was done in a weekend then spent 3 days getting it running but thats another story.

my 300 fender avg 30/31 and its heavy. disco should be near 30 if its got a snorkel very regular air filter changes are required

I have got the pump and the pipes if needed... I would do the whole lot as LT77 is a weak box and the R380 is alot better...

Hi just wondering if any chance of laning anywhere south of chelmsford? I would like to go further but my defender (doris) came with a 2.5 petrol and drinks the fuel like it amy winehouse drank her alcohol.

Thanks for all the advice on the engine / boxes.
My existing gearbox is an auto and the according the colour of the oil (near black) it needs a clutch pack.
Wednesday the Disco gets parked in its resting place for breaking and I'll get the fender insured and protected from the scum bags. Then I'll start to suss out a plan for engine and boxes.

You'll be able to say you own three Land Rovers :D

Went over to Violets yesterday, wasn't very deep at all, a non-snorkled Pajero went through so not much of a challenge. Dont a few oth the other lanes near stansted, found some more good ones. Whens everyone next doing a group laning session?

I have got the wheels ready for sale now aswell, forgot who had dibs on them though...
