ah ****, stu that sucks how did it happen?

Update on the CB front...

Stripped metal back to bare on mount - No luck

Earth it to the body - no luck

Earth it to the battery neg - no luck

New cable (again 10m) - no luck

New Aerial (long) - no luck

it just reads well over 3 on the SWF on channels 1 and 40, every time.

Am completely at my wits end with it. Only other thing i can think of, is either i have a dodge SWF meter, of there is a nick in the actual transmitter power cable (although unlikely as the tranmitter is powering up and down fine...)

hmmm

all it can be is a duff connection or a short, get a meter on the cable and the mount and check them out, it would not be the trancevers power cable, its the coax or the mount,

First of all check with the meter if the coax has no shorts across the Screen and the central conductor

Then see if the main condutor has continuity

Then see if the screen has continuity.

The check the base the part were you screw the aerial in should not be connected to the out side of the plug, but the centre pin should connect there.

screw the aerial into the base and check that you have continuaty with the pin in the plug that you screw into the CB.

Johny are you using a mount from maplins? As the one I had from them was causing a short that's why I've ordered a new thunder pole mount and ariel off the bay

I'm now 2" taller, thanks for that Stu. Just need to get some longer shocks now.
Just when you think your getting to the end your list something else comes along.
