have bought a new cable and mount from thunder pole, only cost about a tenner. Going to package the other stuff up and take it back to maplins.

If no luck, ill try again in the middle of a field....

That looks good there Tusken :)

Oh and sorted my rattling/banging........ brake pad fell of the metal bit!!! Yes that's right, the pad - the bit that wears away fell off the metal bit (that the callipers push against). An hour later and a box of genuine Land Rover pads and it's now fixed. Glad it wasn't anything major!

quality pads then ! they only went in last weekend. Did you check the rear brake unions at the flexy ? remember they leaked/were loose

Thats pretty poor Matt, glad it was an easy fix though.

I will be getting some HD bars eventually, the guard definatly helps as its taken a right battering :D

I might be in Norfolk this weekend, although i think I am seeing mat in the morning to look at my airbox bracket so potentially could have a look around then.

New mount and cable from thunderpole came today so will give it another try this evening!

mounting my spare wheel, Land rover wolf style (like pic below), so have to build a cage/hoop on the inside to take the weight

Looks like we have all been shopping then.
+2" dampers, -2"mounts for the rear & caster correction bushes cos the ride is ****.
Just got to get them pressed in....... Any body got a press ;)

My engine runs again :D

Had a mare of a time yesterday, took about 10 hours to change the oil pump, water pump, cam belt plus tensioners, oil filter, fuel filter, oil cooler pipe, coolant and oil.
Did all that then at half midnight tried to turn it over and it was having none of it, engine jammed solid. Tired and ****ed off left it in the barn a Mikey give me a lift home.
Cracked on today and after much head scratching, Mikey noticed the cam cover seal (that Mansfield forgot to give me  ) Was catching on the crank.
Turns out the metal part of the seal had moved out and was jammed up against the crank pulley when the cam cover was bolted on. So engine would turn over fine by hand but not when everything back together.
With that sorted put it back together and couldn't get it to turn over fast enough to start it. Initial thought was my 5 month old starter motor was knackered however it turned out to be the battery which is now clearly on its last legs.
Anyway spare battery got it started and everything seems to be all good.

Interestingly it seems the old oil pump was fine what the camcover to block gasket was letting the oil seep out from where it was ment to go meaning was getting oil to the right places but think it was tricking the pressure switch into thinking the pressure was
too low.

Tomorrows jobs involve checking oil and water levels, attempting to fix a couple of oil leaks and adjust the tappets.
