New generation 2 Landrover Freelander EGR bypass valve to fit the TD4 Landrover. This valve has been redesigned and improved over the old design and any other cheap imitation designs that are currently circulating on ebay. The new design of EGR bypass now utilizes a high quality CNC machined body which incorporates a deep grooved lip to ensure that the turbo pipe cannot slip off the EGR bypass. Also the new CNC machined body has a larger internal diameter compared to the OEM EGR valve to ensure that maximum airflow passes through thus boosting performance, economy and reducing emissions. This new design is a marked improvement over the old design which was originally developed in conjunction with Tuning-diesels for cheaper diesel tuning. Even with the old design the improvements that the bypass offered the engine were very noticeable. Testaments and information on this EGR bypass can be found on the above website. So far I have shipped over 700 EGR bypasses all over the world for this particular engine. Along with this the EGR bypass now comes with a Turbo Boost gauge mounting pipe to allow easy installation of a Turbo Boost Gauge (pipe is shown in the pictures sealed with a blue vinyl cap). By mounting a Turbo boost gauge to your car you are able to monitor the boost levels to ensure that maximum performance and efficiency is achieved at all times. A secondary feature is also a mounting pin for the redundant vacuum pipe that is disconnected from the original EGR Valve. The EGR bypass has been manufactured using 8mm thick laser cut flanges (unlike other cheap versions on ebay that come with a 4mm flange that easily distorts and does not seal properly) and all the sub assembly components have been assembled using jigs to ensure accuracy and consistency every time. This product has been MIG welded by a time served coded welding engineer. Each EGR valve is professionally fully POWDER COATED in gloss black to ensure that an excellent aesthetic appearance is achieved along with maximum corrosion protection thus ensuring that the product enjoys . Other cheap EGR bypasses on ebay are poorly wet sprayed and have exposed parts of the component that will corrode within days of fitting.

The EGR bypass has been manufactured using 8 mm thick laser cut flanges and all the sub assembly components have been assembled using jigs to ensure accuracy and consistency every time. This product has been TIG welded by a time served welding engineer. This replaces the existing EGR assembly and in return it offers the following improvements over the standard EGR system. There are some POOR BLACK PAINT EGR BYPASES (will corrode within days of fitting )only kits available but these are not ideal, the actual EGR valve is a restriction to air flow and is best removed completely..[/i]
So where can I get my hands on one of the black ones?
I have another option for anyone who wants to keep original egr (cleaned out would be advised) or just wants a cheap fix that's easy and tidy.
In the finest tradition of Blue Peter I offer you the shelf peg mod!
I thought about a few versions but the tidiest way that doesn't involve cutting the original vacuum hose and is also easily reversible is a simple extension piece. Consisting of a 30mm (you could do precise measuring if you fancied it but this was close enough for me) length of silicon vacuum hose (4mm internal diameter, 8mm external) with a steel shelf peg stuck in one end. It's just a case of slipping old pipe off of egr, insert peg end of extension into it, then open end of extension to egr. It's blocked off, neat and can be removed in seconds if needed.....
On the egr blocking issue - I was quite surprised how much more power is on tap in 1st and 2nd - I drive quite aggressively and the extra grunt almost had me drifting round the local tesco roundabout!! Shall have to lighten the right foot!
I shall report any issues I find with the peg mod if any should crop up.
I had to buy a meter of pipe (£1.49 delivered) and I have ordered 20 pegs as I thought it might be nice to share.... if anyone wants a bit of pipe and a peg, pm me your address and we'll call it a xmas pressie! (After xmas, call it an easter gift etc...!)
Gotta love the hippo when it's tweaked - beats them bus-like discos and tin shed defenders
