Do you regret buying a Freelander?

must say not had mine long but other that a bit missing off wing mirror she look sweet as a nut and drivers very nice i no it had a hgf done b4 i had it and also was told the vcu was replaced(not to sure on that 1) 3door 1.8xei
 
No . I love mine. In spite of strange things happening in the electrics , such as the powerfold mirrors switch deciding not to work sometimes and the traction control warning lamp being on for the whole of a 90mile journey when I do not have traction control! I was scared to stop and find out what it meant as I was on the way to a funeral and could not be late.

I do not mind replacing stuff that wears out , it is the price of running an old car , as no way could I afford a new one.

Oh, and it was brilliant in the snow on our steep ungritted hill:)

Bought a brand new 1.8S three door back in October 2001. Had to sell it because of a forced career change. Just about to pick up a facelift TD4 SE! Love 'em but it's taken this long to get one back in my life... :lol: :5bhurray:
 
After a year i have a love hate relationship with mine
I haven't had much bother with it to be honest,i must have getting a good one.:lol: wouldn't buy another one though,my pockets aren't that deep.

Last Freelander was the only car I've regretted selling! (Seriously) I love tinkering and they are relatively easy to fanny about with! My latest is a 55 plate facelift td4 SE. With 50k on clock and loads of history (some made up I think ? ) so far I've serviced it.replaced crankcase breather with bmw part, egr mod, front discs and pads. I'm replacing the hoses with silicone tomorrow then I'm upgrading the speakers.
 
Bought one in March of this year........although i like it the jury is still out on the whole 'regrets' thing.........i'm more of a defender girl.......but saying that i can't afford to run a defender and i still have the green oval so no complaints....except for the rattle i can't find..................................
 
Absolutely not. Had three TD4's and sold the last one and bought a ZT 1.8T which gave a shed load of trouble to start with (but that was mostly the incompetent MG nut garage I bought it off) but is now sorted.

Just got myself a V6, must be mad I know but hey sometimes you have to just do it.

Oh and keeping the ZT as well. Love 'em both.
 
I have to be honest , did look down on the freelander, as it did not seem a proper Landy (no hi/low transfer) but sisters disco became a bit bodily fragile and she suggested a Freelander to replace it so bought her a TD4 auto , was so pleasantly surprised at the nice ride and nippy economy of it I got one myself another TD4 auto . Still need my other landies tho , as it has its limitations , but they have both been very reliable , and one of the best bits is the FBH esp at this time of year for the commuting run . JMHO
 
This may well contradict my earlier thoughts on the Freelandering journey. We've been together nearly five years, had our ups and downs - no regret buying and have always enjoyed driving and messing about with it but I would definitely not buy another one (1) unless it was a two. Just a little too much attention required for me and must have spent purchase price again on it, so somewhere around 5k total. Not so bad in the grande scheme. Still hoping to go to the Disco (car, not dancin). That's my 2 pence worth!

Very comfortable and a surprising amount of poke when overtaking those who insist on driving 65 mph
Very happy with my Freelander so far
 
iv'e had my td4 es facelift for just over 9 years 48,000 miles absolutly no bother at all until last year when i let a local garage at it .after leaks from ird and rear diff which iv'e sorted i am still in love with it :)so now i try to do as much work on it as i possibly can .upgraded to full cream leather, 18"sport alloys ,egr mod (which has made a differences)etc,etc.and i must say that most of the info i have got comes from this forum:tea:and it was fantastic in them bad winters we have had :cool:so i would buy another in the drop of a hat but also interested in the evoque.
 
Bought my V6 2 and a half years ago for 3 grand and have done nearly 70K motorway miles in it since.
It's picked up a few problems which are improving all the time, and I still think it's excellent value for money.
 
Dont regret buying either of ours in the slightest. Bought 1st td4 sport 7 years ago and then a second td4 sport because 1st was so good 3 years ago and both are still fantastic reliable family cars. Buying 8 x 18" tyres every couple of years hurts a little though!!:)
 
My only regret is that, despite it being 100% reliable (so far, touch wood) since I bought it, I still don't trust it - this is entirely down to it's reputation, not my experience.

My experience is that it's an econmical, comfortable, relatively quiet car, with proper "all weather" on-road abilities.

I'm moving house this month and with it changing from commuting by train into London every day, and only using the FL for weekend dog duties and the occasional trip to the Peak District, to using it everyday as my only way to get in and out of work in Bradford from Holmfirth, I expect this will be more of a test for it.
 
I've had my 06 TD4 HSE Auto nearly a year now but only done about 1000 miles (expensive motoring :mad:) but I have to say I love it.:)

I've done all the economy stuff suggested by the great peeps on here but I have a wary eye on the whole VCU/transmission thing. I'm trying to book it at Bell Eng for a transmission check but the weather is against us right now.

So far, so good.

I didn't today for the first time in ages. Set off in the snow (not too bad here to be honest) in search of a vanilla latte, so costa bound. Went a route that I forgot has a fairly sharp short hill that's exposed. Anyhoo running mondo thought eek! Front wheels broke traction but then TC cut in and did something and we carried on up the hill. Didn't rescue any stranded defenders or discos, they all seemed to be doing fine!!
