you two are like a pair of old women lol.

Mr Noisey,

Loving the megasquirt too. Have the Lotus all settled down and running as std with throttle boddies and still getting 32mpg, uploaded a vid to discoventures 'my youtube channel' - now thinking of a turbo conversion for a little more umph but also have a V8 mod in the back of my mind....... Speaking of which MegasquirtUK on youbetube has a video of his V8 Defender which is not far from me, very very quick!!!

Discomark,

You really need to get rid of that antiquaited ignition system and go for Megasquirt. Waterproof and reliable plus loads more power from the V8 too.

Like your cones. Pitty your plasma gave up though, nothing more enjoyable than making your own **** lol

I like the article picture #want a 4 link suspension system

Yeah i realised that after i posted it, i checked the link and the site is a load of rubbish.

Called 4xForce Suspension but theres nothing online about it.

Anyway, no doubt it will surface soon, its something to do with the guys at Kirton too.

I subscribe to you on Youtube Ian and have watched the video, likewise i posted Nige's V8 90 video on here a week or so ago, just had to share that one!!

I'de love to get MS, might be an option in the future. I'de still like to make my own waisted spark system, just got lots to do/buy before that's on the table.

One thing I could do with sorting is the play in the centre diff, I checked it with the centre lock engaged and there is still play, I read somewhere that you can re shim the centre diff?

Yes you can Mark its part of the LT230 rebuild.

I chose not to go that far as i was happy with the backlash in the box i was rebuilding and it does look like a bit of a fiddle!

Overall the LT230 is a very easy chap to strip down and would not be difficult to kake perfect with a master rebuild kit from Ashcrofts :)

I think I shal be doing that rather soon!
On another note

I've ordered another set of yellow/red springs, looking over the short video I can see the front has almost no movement, mainly due to the stiff springs from the lift kit.

Nice rumble from the motor in the video.

Do you feel that the bottom mounted cones give an advantage? When I was looking at relocation cones I read that they are easier and gentler to relocate the spring when the cones are mounted othe axle than othe chassis.

Mine are std items on the chassis end and as the spring dislocates it swings away which is why I had the cones with the hooks incorporated. These also grab the axle once the spring has dislocated transferring the weight back to the vehicle so you get maximum articulation and traction. That's the theory anyway.

Personally after a year running them I still prefer more articulation.

As for the front not moving much, that's because the front axle doesn't have an a frame and ball joint arrangement.

There is allomost no movment.. going to fit the springs and try it out on sunday.
The cones just relocate nicer compared to the top mounted ones, with the hook one's it limits the down travel if your shock has further to go still but it allows for perfect relocation.

What are yellow reds then?

I have bearmach 2" rears on the front and 3" HD on the back

I never struggle with flex, it happily takes a wheel right up if need be, or is that because I'm weighing in over 2.5 ton?

Well according to the spring charts there are a smidgen longer than white red but with the same rate, and yea I would imagine it is down too the extra tonnage.
According to the chart it also states d1 v8 has 130lbs on front as standard and the ones I'm fitting are 150 if I remember correctly

The v8 is lighter than the tdi so they take a slightly lower rate spring, I fitted tdi front springs to mine way back in the day and had to 40mm block the rears to level it up!

Well I fitted the springs yesterday which was a pain as they are so long the arms don't allow the axle to drop enough without pushing a bit of force downwards!

Went to Whaddon today met up with krams300, nice guy! does allot to help maintain the site.
The disco performed well, didn't struggle with anything, I took my cap to check on my petrol level as my gauge isn't quite right still and I left the cap off and lost it! Oh well.
My clutch master cylinder isn't great as it only had a tiny bit of useful movement, so I tried to bleed it with help from krams300 and it just wouldn't bleed! new one on order me thinks!

Question, Do I buy £20, £50 or £95 cylinder?!

When I change springs I always put the bottle jack in between the chassis and axle, then pump untill enough space appears :)

There wasnt enough thravel in the jack so used one to jack the axle up the another to do the body then let the axle down
