Just read the thread,nice disco.few questions about your springs.ive got a bobtailed disco so loads of weight has gone off the rear.ive got a 2inch lift kit the front springs r crap and have sagged but the rear is a bit higher than a normal disco with lift coz of the weight reduction.what are the springs your using front and rear.still want lift but I want it to b even which I'm assuming you've done.wht springs are they and where are the from etc

Well I have less weight over the back as its a trayback rather than bob, I'm using springs that are a harder(150lbs) than used as standard(130lbs) on the front for a v8 on both front and rear now, it sits nice and lovely and soft with a lil lift!

On this chart you can see what's used as standard, it might be worth going to standard spring rather that a +2

Well it's more of a pick up than a bob im guessing its a similar weight to yours.I need the lift due to the size ov my tyres.but I want lift but for them not to be rock hard like lift springs are.how much lift has it given you on the rear
 
well they are (red/white) which is a smidgen shorter in free length but a lil harder that what I've just put on (red/yellow), providing the pics are correct. What the axle-chassis hight on yours, I've know idea what mine lifted by, but i can measure
do you know what rate the springs you have atm are?

I don't no the axle to chassis height is but some where on here I've put the spring length whilst fitted.il try and find that.and at the minit it's a procomp lift kit so I think there bearmach but not sure.but there crap what ever they are.
 
My front spring length is 26ish cm fitted.with a winch and winch bumper.but the rear is 36ish cm when fitted with all the weight gone.about 4 inch difference front to rear in height.on the springs lengths anyway,but Bout 1-2 inch in appearance.alot of chopping and changing between cm and inch lol

if so they are 220+

The springs I fitted are 35 on the rear and 29 on the front i also have a winch bumper and winch but yours is a TDI so heavyer front end.
Hard to compare our vehicles without knowing weights.

Ide be tempted to stick a standard rear spring on the back of yours. I think it would be worth finding exactly what you have and go from there.
 
I'm happy with height on the rear.its the front I want to be raised up I think.ive got another lift kit and I'm guna try 1 front spring on and 1 rear spring to see what that does.
 
Lots of problems with a big lift, hard spring so little flex, lots of prop wear, bush wear, steering angle, higher centre of gravity, imho ide stick to a 2"
 
How do you have your landie axle weighed to find out what lb spring rate you need.im assuming you have the axles weighed separately some how and then work out how much extra weight uve added or taken away then get springs with extra or less lb rate to compensate.

Assuming that's a question and you're not answering yourself....

Newer computorised jobbies can weigh whole vehicle and individual axle weights.

Falling that I guess you could do it on a weighbridge half at a time front and back but most bridge approaches are quite steep so I don't imagine it'd be that accurate.....though thinking about it it would give you a front/back ratio and an accurate total weight

Does anybody here work at a Hgv garage or Hgv test centre,do the brake rollers weigh each axle? I think I'm guna go Terrafirma heavy load front and medium load rear.the rears still mite make it a bit high but I'm guna have roll cage built and they should bring the back down to match.1 day il get the Landy to sit even and il be happy lol
 
Problem there is you would be weighing your unsprung weight on the weighbridge too so your have to know your unsprung weight first, could be a right task!

However of course of you deviate from standard body weight (cut it all up like a wrongun) then you are leaving yourself wide open to experimentation!! :D
