The repairable nature is what is drawing me to them. I have surprised myself so far with my 90 as to what I can do so should be fun.

Will just be little daunting at first as I won’t have the brand new alternative on my drive in an emergency. But I won’t miss the monthly payments!

speed is getting less of an issue as I mainly drive on b roads and smaller a country roads than motorways. And when it snows and floods I will be better off out here.

Not had many speed issues.

Motorways cruise at 80, A roads as long as over 50 I am happy (lock up top). only bad side are long up hills where the lack of outright power is obvious.

Twisty roads are fun as long as smooth, possible to lift inside front while cornering, especially after taking a Porsche by surprise.

Thanks! Good to note.

Well my d2 td5 is my only vehicle and I'm doing 60 miles a day to work and back, I never take it above 4k and it'll pull from 30mph in 5th.
it's not been without its issues which is definitely my own fault for not being more thorough when I went to view it but right now it seems to be in a happy zone for what I using it for, despite the common gear lever gate spring thingy breaking and noticibly less power when up to temp, and I get randos staring and waving every day :D

2.5 for short MOT to 13

Loaded ES at 10

On a further viewing it seems that my head might have to rule this one. On driving it sounded like there was water sloshing about in the front of the car but I think this could be the heating matrix?

Also the floors, footwells and boot floor were quite damp (roof all seems dry though?)

the rear chassis is as below in picture. I think needs looking at soon - any views?
Also there was a lot of oil on the damper and steering joints from somewhere.
On the plus side all electrics (apart from satnav and rear dvd screen work!)o_O

Sounds like a 1.5k car

possably water coming in from the front cowl below the windscrean like I had if the headliner is not wet, you need to check for a rust hole near or below the glass of just a very loose grommet, were the cable for the windscrean heater go through I had both

Well I saw another d2 today. This time a little older 1999!

it had a new headliner, everything worked including the sunroofs for which the guy had replaced the motors and seals so no leaks.

again driver’s floor was wet. No obvious reason.

the owner had sadly had the engine bay cleaned so looked like new but that made me wary. Has been in his family for 13 years but he has only done about 500 miles in last 3 years. Remarkable. Reaper brake callipers were heavily rusted so think been standing for a bit.

mot history was pretty good. Chassis shows signs of corrosion and there was some welding repairs to rear chassis.

Other issues to which I dont know immediately how to address are a groaning from steering when manoeuvring at low speed and a low whining on acceleration which I think might annoy me in long journeys. Engine ran really smoothly and quietly otherwise.

priced at 3900 but expect could get for 3500.

certainly ran better than the one I viewed before which was priced at 5995!

Any thoughts on the immediate issues I mentioned?? May just buy to run until/if gives up subject to mot work etc.

Depends on your budget.

I would guess that you will spend at least another 3500 on that over the next few years.

Groaning could be just change steering oil, or wrong oil, or could need pump or box.

I might if I wasn’t intending to use it immediately for a daily runner. Don’t want it sat off road for a while.

and I would prefer to spend some of that on a better one (if they exist)
