I saw a link to a post which said that some members are being restricted on posting photos. Perhaps that’s it, I’m just unlucky.

Well done!
How did you do it?
It might be of interrest to others having problems.

Nice truck as well!!!
:):):):):):)
Thank you! I can’t wait to get thermostat sorted then I can hopefully relax a bit and drive.

when I did it at home on WiFi (no idea if this helped at all) I noticed after pasting the image that a menu box had appeared below image (it took a while and was not there on previous attempts) which said upload image to post. I clicked it and voila it was embedded!

Well a weekend of highs and lows.

I managed to change the thermostat but it took some doing, the combination of old clips, stubborn hoses and limited access (they obviously didn’t think it would go wrong!;)). My knuckles bear the grazed knuckles so many of you spoke of. Luckily my landrover owning neighbour leant a hand. Thank you!

good news, it solved the drooping temperature gauge.

the bad news came on a longer test drive when I got home to find it steaming. Turns out the fuel cooler hose (didn’t know what it was at the time) had gone back in a position slightly too close to the fan. Yep you guessed it, small tear and lovely new coolant everywhere.

It took a little while longer to nearly remove the offending pipe as my clamp grippers could not get around the clip on the bottom of the radiator. I have therefore ordered some new pliers, coolant and will be on the phone to Craddocks when they open! I will also cable tie the pipes gently out of the way when I replace.

What a weekend. On the plus side the 5 miles I have driven were great!

will let you know when all connected again.

You can always cut an offending clamp off, carefully, and replace it with a Jubbly clip or similar.

Thanks. I may end up doing that. Just access is very limited as it goes right up against the outlet for the one above (think oil cooler).

didn’t waste any space that’s for sure.
One thing which is tricky is replacing the temp sender/sensor for the ATF which is prolly in the same region. I was able, just, to replace it through the well-hidden hatch in the inner wheel arch once the wheel was off, but the ATF that came out as I was changing it made things so slippery.... Still once done minimal loss of ATF. And now the light don't come on for nuffin!

New cable remote pliers arrived. Got the clamp off in 2 minutes! Well worth the 12£.
Just waiting for delivery of new hose and I can put back together.

Fuel cooler hose finally arrived today. So put all hoses back on and refilled with coolant.

So good to be able to drive again!

slight gurgling from heating matrix I think but think that’s a bleeding issue.

It's the same with us, people, when we get old
I've thought about adding some fluerescent dye to the fluids of my D2's, so I would find my parking spot, even when dark :D
Well good news - temp has been consistently good since new pipe and thermostat.

I carried out an oil and filters change this weekend. Not too bad although the sump nut was very hard to undo.

certainly not much headroom under the d2 compared to my 90!

bad news is in the last few days I have developed a clonk when engaging drive and a vibration when accelerating/changing gear.

I am booked in to get the once over from my local LR specialist next week. I think it will be a front drive shaft but what do I know? I also need to change the ATF fluid as I have seen that cures some problems with gearboxes.

Get the filter kit when doing the ATF. It's not expensive, and do be aware that changing it means doing more than one "change" as so mauch satys in the system in the cooler, the torque converter etc etc.
But deffo a good thing to do.
Plenty of advice and help on here about doing it.

Thanks yes. I’ve been reading in here about it. Definitely not a one treatment solution. I agree with filter, have that on order it’s only about £15. Good tip.

I have also noticed that the stick doesn’t allow me to shift into “1” place which although isn’t used much is a concenr.

Well, my local landrover guy checked over my newly acquired d2 and found the rear chassis not to be as good as I thought. It’s gone. Also the wheel arches have gone and been patched and hidden by a lot of sealant.

Other than that it’s ok. Bit oily but that’s it.

So sadly I dont think I will be spending the time and money repairing her which is a shame as was enjoying driving her.

Just posting to share the misery
