nothing wrong with detroit, proven big block beasts!

I don't want an ecu engine so thats out the window, get 1000 with detroit out the box anyway
plus powerstroke cost more for bits and I prefer old school engines

this isn't the 6.2/5 you had, this is a proper old derv

parts are plentiful in the states and easy to ship over or my engine man can get me anything I need

I have 5.13 diffs which with the correct box will be fine for 60mph as thats all I do in my disco anyway

7.3 is not ecu, old school

What detroit engine you talking about? have never heard of 1000hp out of the box

are you sure???

not meanig to be mean, but i think you wont do this, cos another engine will come along...

merlin prehaps??

can i please suggest you stop buying and stick with a plan.??from here it seems like you are quite mad and will never get anything finished..

not doughting your capability, but you dont alf change your mind alot!!

please dont treat this as hating, (COS IT AINT)but as constructive critism..your build at the end of the day..!

off to collect the new axles tomorrow so don't worry its being trucked! Measured up my drive too and it'll just squeeze down it

another engine may come along but I have no money for one so the 454 is safe for now, plus my chassis steel is ordered already

merlin is far too pricey

Dana diffs are where its at :p

If I could have afforded some Rockwell top loaded axles I would but meh :(

trouble is all the good stuff has been exported or scrapped:mad:

rockwells are nuts though, If I had a nice little lottery win id go out to the states and fill a few containers up with junk:cool:

These axles came off a GMC Tavern IRA truck that the MOD had rebuilt, cost me £675 all in for a Dana 70 front and two 80 rears, then say about £160 in delivery charges/fuel so not too bad really especially given the price of upgrading to a set of HD Ashfroft Force 9's

So hard trying to find decent parts in the UK, as you say a few containers from the states is the way to go. Make a fortune importing the good stuff like engines, axles and transfer boxes from there plus new parts for Chevy engines given real steels crazy prices!

8v92t 1250ft/lbs standard

Do you know how much that thing weighs:eek::eek::eek:

Physical Dimensions and Weight
The 8V92 engine is 65 inches (1,651 mm) long, 46 inches (1,168 mm) wide and 47 inches (1,194 mm) tall. Detroit Diesel engines are generally heavier than comparable engines from other companies. As such, the Detroit Diesel 8V92 weighs 3,230 pounds (1,465 kg).

Then you need a radiator and intercooler add another 5-600 pounds

Oh I know I did the research, but my chassis is the same thickness as a peterbilts at 1/4" it's being fully triangulated with a built in cage and having some extra diamond plates welded in along its length and the springs/axle/hydro steer will cope with the weight.

The local breaker and my mates dad have scrap trucks I can pick at for parts so that's not an issue for me getting the heavy pieces I need ;)

It's a way off anyway, need to make the chassis first

I have 7.5t on my license to play with so I'm using it

I'm with JM its a pipe dream lots of bits some people rate bolted to a make a thing-,

The sad thing is, Dr has already destroyed a series never to see the road again. At least this latest idea will only destroy a "Thing".

No its me not having updated.......

This is the only update other than picking up my new axles and I'm not fitting them til I get round to doing the head gaskets
