Rodntod.... Your not going to believe this i sold my range rover sport for two reasons,

1. Wasnt really using it much due to where i work and parking etc..

2. Was sick of spending on it i alwas wanted one sold my soul to buy one and it just kept going wrong all the time, it was a 57 plate 08 3.6 TDV8 diesel with 33k miles and in the 7 months i owned it it had..

1, Battery £90
2, Alternator £220
3, Door locking catch and motor £110
4, 4 tyres £600
5, Set of alloys £800
6, Rear doscs and pads £220
7, Handbrake motor and cables £550
8, Service £249

£2839 in six months on a car i paid £24500 for then another fortune below to get it right.

then at service it was reported it required bottom arms both side and anti roll bar links or bushes or something, another £650 worth then taxing at £245 bollocks to that i got rid...went back to older version then got shafted again lol......

Range rovers and me dont seem to mix like....

How much have you spent on this one, so far?

What was it in the end, the BECM?

Top Man Rick... well done, bet you and Rob have a massive grin from ear to ear. Refund i think from me Rob, glad its all turned out well. :)

It wasn't difficult Doug. At least Rob spoke English.

What i done for Rob I do for garages & owners all over the world. The RAF base in the Falklands have me on speed dial.

It got quite painfull watching this thread, so i had to jump in. Forgive me.

That's also a great offer to refund Rob, He's had a lot of unnecessary expense there.

Ok guys just to clarify what it was and the true storey behind this fault....

The Ebcm was the original fault with the lights/hazzards and horns,Due to water ingress from heater O rings and pollen filter seals,
when diagnosing i shorted the terminal on the underside of fusebox and blew MAXI FUSE 2 this was the cause of the dash going out, and non starting with my ebcm still fitted..originally with the lights issue the car was running fine till i shorted the terminal on the underside of the fusebox, then it stopped running from that point........

Then a replacement Ebcm was tried on but did not sync as it was a wrong unit..

My Ebcm was removed and taken away, it was at this point where i found the blown fuse and replaced it...

When my replacement ebcm returned the second time, it should of started had it been the correct one as the fuse had been replaced etc,, but becouse it was not comapatible with my car it still never started but it was the ebcm this time (wrong one) but obviously it was the same non start issue and assumed it was a fault elsewhere...

Assuming the ebcm was correct for my car as i knew no other

Obviously from that point i spent money looking elsewhere ie, fusebox, engine ecu and coil packs and crank sensor,,

Untill Rick stepped in......

Rick wanted to back to the very start and wanted my Current second Ebcm for testing and the Engine ecu as well, they were sent to him and Rick tested them, he did inform me they initionally seemed Ok he had me worried but he was only 99% sure at this point, he asked me to test wiring and stuff in the mean time which i did....

Then came the call i wanted, ive sorted it its been a auckward one and hard to track away from the car over the phone The Ebcm is out of range or compatabilty with my other engine components and wont graft...

Rick supplied a reconditioned Ebcm and syncd m ecu to it and returd them...

I fitted them today with a fully charged battery and went for the Jugular..

Here is the result....

Then to everyone else for the support and good gestures that have basically kept me going its been an up and down road ive been sick as hell and cheesed off to boot and had hope and now im sorted and in a nutshell...

You da man Rob.....Bet that feels gooooooood...

Rick was good to his word and so am I donation to HfH on its way....!!!!

Fecking Ace....:D

Just to clarify. The original BECM is FUBAR and you have a new (or recon) one paired with an fresh ECM for the motor?

Doesn't effect the terrific outcome but we'll never know exactly what was wrong if that's the case.

About f in time , did any one tell you petrol is going up twofold, you should of got a diesel  less plugs x2 :D
Nah, if I could go back, I'd have got the 4.6 V8. Getting a derv was a huge mistake. Only a couple of squid a week in it and for a V8 rumble, it would've been totally worth it.

That's not too bad then considering local repair costs and you would of lost more than that scrapping it.

I'm really pleased that you're all sorted.

Happy Motoring :car: :crazy_driver:

Original Becm = fubar ( lights/horns/hazzrds issue) due to water damage of heater O rings and pollen filter seals hence board damage in Ebcm

Second Ebcm = out of working range with existing components

Third Ebcm = Paired with Original ecu and working great

Rick knows the techie stuff sorry ive just the basic knowledge :p
