With dona car it can be done with another key and its bcem by taking battery's out of dona cars key fob so you can still use barrel put put said key next to ignition

This car sure has made everyone think, including me.

Doug has travelled to this vehicle 3 times & it's still not firing up. So i'm assuming it's going to be something unusual.
I haven't a clue what's causing it, but i trust my experiance & everything i've read about this problem i'm discarding & in theory i'm going to start at the beginning & act as if i have no knowledge.
I'm confident enough, with Robs help, that we'll get this car started.
If i fail, I'll accept the slating gracefully. However, if i get this range rover going (without seeing the car)then i reaken you all need to make a small donation to this site to help it's upkeep & keep it running.
Now watch this space!

IL chuck some money in the LZ pot if you get it running!

Also power to coils means nothing as far as ECM is concerned there are four separate pins Firing different cylinders if you look In rave ECM output Diagrams
I know - I said this about 200 posts back...

The Coils are fired by the ECM switiching to ground....Power to the coils is from the Ignition Relay which is switched by the BeCM once it gets the OK from the Immobiliser (which means the keys are synced to the car)....

The ECM isn't firing the coils - and power to coils DOES matter to the ECM as it looks for this signal to run the Fuel Pump - you say it is in RAVE I know I have read it endlessly - I suggest you keep reading further down - the ECM senses the ignition relay is switched sending power to the coils and it then switches on the fuel pump......

I suggest we all read back - it is all here, I have mentioned the way the coils are fired numerous times - also the engine cranks, so the keys are good.....

Time for Rick I think - as it is clearly an Electronics issue now rather than anything else.

Me too , I will never ever work on a car with a battery Connected again( when not needed )
I will only ever work on one part of Wiring at a time in the Future....

.
I will throw some of my Land Cruiser money in the pot, what I didn't need to spend over the last few years.

Seriously, really, joking aside, I really want to see this guys Rangie running.
It has been a great read so far, and I do feel for the guy.
You Land Rover guys are the tops, with nothing but good wishes that you are all a happy lot, and do well together to help each other out.

Gra.

Good on you Rick If you get it running or not i will stick a tenner to HFH and to the LZ it's not a lot but things are tight at the mo..

Hi guys just to clear a few points up reference the EBcm and the ECM and keys...
The ebcm as far as ai know is a 100% different unit to the one that was originally on the car,
The ecm is also a 100% different unit to the oringinal one fitted to the car
The keys though one is the original key that came with the car and known working key
the second key is brand spanking new from the dealer coded and sync in by Doug but non of which start the car lol....

Thanks so Ebcm and key have no significance just ECM mated to Ebcm so both can be tested in another car synced together tested removed and sent to you yes??
