Well took out injectors, now i can get 8 quarter turns each way before it jams, has anybody got any ideas on this, cheers pat.

Is the camshaft turning? If it is, it's likely you have dropped a valve. Take the cylinder head off and have a look.

Thats what iam going to do next once i get myself some timing marks so that i can take fuel injection pump off.cheers pat.

Without looking at rave, wouldn't of thought u need to take pump off to get head off , and the cam , crank and pump pulleys will be marked, somebody correct me if I'm wrong

Why are you taking the FIP off no need to do that. Be aware you need special tools to do this and special tools to hold the chains and to re-time it.

you are going to fvar into it jujst take the bloody heD OFF AND LOOK AT THE DAMAGE you have first as said above no need to take pump off and the tools you will need are not cheep

Pat just whip the head off and take a look. Unless you have a conrod poking out of the crankcase it really has to be a dropped valve. Can't be a lot else. Last diesel i did with a snapped timing belt (Iveco) needed a new head it can be quit a mess in there.

Thats fine lads if i dont need to take it off i wont, and ive got the tools needed from when i last changed the pump.pat.

You will need the tool to depress the tensioner and pins to lock it, when you take the camshaft sprocket off to remove the head.

Not only can a dropped valve buggar the head but also the conrod as well

If valve as dropped make sure you check the piston VERY carefully. One my works van dropped a valve, ford repaired as done on warranty 2 weeks later wacking great hole in piston. They then had change the engine.

Wammers, what does the tool i need to take the tention off the sprocket look like,is it like the one on ebay as a holding tool, cheers pat.

Go for it Pat. We've all had to start somewhere. Even the very best on this forum stripped an engine for the first time. In my experience you will learn a darn sight more when its your engine and your money than you will working on an.engine you will never see again.

Cheers for the comment,jt,at least iam going to give it a go ,but you always get the people who come outwith the snidy co
mments like sloby

Pat i have these. Sealey VSE 5538. Ebay 120701542333. You will also need if you take the pump off one of these to time it with. Ebay 250985643143. Pump adaptor. Plus one of these. Ebay 230740701163. Dial test indicator. These are just samples to let you see what is required, if you are stripping the engine. Look around you may find them for less.
