Should still be able to turn over engine byhand with starter out ,or iam i wrong, pat

Yeah it's the only thing you can turn it over with if there is no starter. Turning a diesel over by hand has never been one of the easiest things to do.:D:D

I maybe going in the wrong direction here, but coyld it be any chance it might be the dual mass flywheel, when i changed my clutch i never replaced the two pins that people say you have to change.cheers pat

Was the starter damaged? If a DMF lets go it can cause a lot of damage, if it's that and it hasn't cracked the bell housing it could certainly jam the engine IMO and probably bust the crank:eek:

If the spiral pins went you would just lose the clutch.

Pat with due respect to you and your efforts. From the questions you are asking it appears you lack a certain amount of expertise. Maybe it would be a good idea if you know anybody with more knowledge, to get them to look at your car for you. :):)

I'm on the edge of my seat here dying to know the result is. I do hope you got a big spanner on the crankshaft bolt whilst turning

So the crank turns twice clockwise then twice anti-clockwise??

I can't remember which way round it is but I think the crank turns twice for each single turn of the camshaft (or is it the other way round??)

If you can only turn the crank in full rotations twice and the camshaft only turns once, I would suggest a valve or similar is blocking its path....as it stops when it trys to move said valve....

I could be way off, but worth a shot.

Mmm your not giving us much info like did you take the rocker cover off you said the chain was ok you have twochains the more details you can give the better we can understand.
