Mines lifted 2" on 33"x12.5"xr15, its been pollybushed aswell. To be honest its lucky if it goes over 60mph. Whatty's does seem to handle very well for a std disco fairplay to him. My other disco standard didn't handle as well as his. But i still prefer my wobble wagon

if your all so worried about a std disco on a clear motor way ,wouldnt you be better putting any modified ones back to factory spec ,or trailering them about

why? i'd be lucky if mine done 75mph! though 95mph

if i wanted a quick car i would buy a skyline not a brick!

What difference does it make if its a clear motorway? its either safe at 95 or its a bag of **** and shudnt be doing that sort of speed, I aint drove many old discos that id feel safe at that speed.

need looking after then ,all mine have been in good enough condition ,no ones advocating speeding ,just it is possible to do it reasonably safely in the right conditions bearing in mind if you modify one your altering the cars safety characteristics downwards

so lets say i fit a steering guard or poly bushes or a roll cage or heavy duty springs! how does that make that less safer than a standard discovery?

"Travelling at 95mph in a disco and your asking for disaster" Ho dear, does that go for Range Rovers as well?

I wudnt say all of em, my 98 v8 was comfortable at that speed, mind i only done that speed once or twice... cudnt help it :D

that wouldnt but big tyres ,lift ,heavy winch and bumper ,roll bar removal etc might ,now i dont mind people doing mods as i expect them to drive accordingly, like wise anyone driving with any play in steering ,worn brakes ,suspension etc shouldnt be throwing stones either

hence i don't do 95mph!
and i don't expect to be hit by some idiot that wants to see if he has a bigger willy than someone in a fiat panda!

Keep thinking that... but please keep off public roads with those kinda thoughts, i'd hate for you to take someone else out when you realise you're wrong.

There are so many documented and videos online of crash tests of vehicles at different speeds (5th gear did some too) and there is a huge difference between crashing at 95 and at 65.

No matter how much of a 'good' driver you think you are there are so many un-controllable varaibles on the road you can't accounter for - a diesel spill on the road, an animal running out in front of you, a crash on the other side of the road throwing debry across or a malufnction of a key component, even on a very highly maintained car - Just look at F1 - they spend millions on their cars and are by far and away better maintained than any road vehicle, yet, they can still have mechanical failures and crash.

No really, you are. My point was not that 95 is no more dangerous than 65, more that 65 can be just as dangerous as 95... subtle difference. If you hit a solid object at 65mph in a D1 your chances of survival are pretty slim...

I'm fairly sure my Disco would do 95 if pushed and in the right conditions I might be willing to see what she could do... but on a public road within striking distance of someone else, no way.
Would I do 95 on my motorbike, or in my tuned MX-5? yes probably as it's often safer to accelerate out of a dangerous situation and get clear of a hazard...

Not worried about the disco mate just wouldn't want to hear you've been involved in a high speed crash.
I never drive much faster than 60 in the disco.

hence i don't do 95mph!

Then you're as dangerous as they are. You should anticipate other road user's actions, be aware of your surroundings and ready to take avoiding action. Just sayin'

so theres no difference in hitting someone at 95mph or 65mph?????
i don't suppose there is much difference in stopping distance between 95mph and 65mph either?

That's good you understand that your mods make it less safer than a standard discovery so don't do 95mph, there are a few that don't realize that.
