Spent most of the Saturday cleaning parts ready for the reassembly when the new pistons arrive, only to find that the oil pump had a bit of an issue - pretty sure that this didn't happen whilst I was taking it apart but have not found the offending part in the oil or sump...

Good job I got the spare pump from @triggersbroom !

Took a look at the spare crank I picked up and decided the journals were cleaner than my existing one.

Got the pilot bearing puller out and removed the spigot bush... child's play with the right tools.

Picked up some superfine wet and dry to do first pass on the journals, and some Autosol for final finish - tonight's job.

Very long thread to look through so what are you doing about the MAF maxing out and the boost level control?

It's an EU2 engine so not really sensitive to maxed out MAF. The EU2 ECU only really uses the MAF to work out how much exhaust gas is being ingested. 1) my map has an EGR delete 2) the MAF sensor has been rescaled to cover up to 850mgh (it still maxes out). I'm also running a 3bar MAP sensor and appropriate rescale.

Regarding boost level control, what specifically about it? The map I'm running can request up to 24psi of boost and regulates the WGM accordingly.

It's all stuff either done by Offtrack or using information that he's put on his website.

using 2 screwdrivers the blind circlip can be knocked off... the rocker then just slides off

Polished the crank journals lightly with Autosol, paraffin washed it, blew dry it with compressed air, then oiled the journals with a bit of WD.

I also gave the block a final hone, wash down, ATF clean of the bores, and a light oil.

It's about time to reassemble things.

Just ordered a new viscous pulley bearing from the local bearing factors, £38 quid for an SKF one, part code is: 3206 A-2RS1TN9

Turners want £56 for there version and I doubt it's LR but rather OE spec.

That's a right result, i remember when it was cheaper to buy an SKF speedy sleeve than a new stub axle but you can buy 2 D1 stubs for the price of a speedy sleeve these days

4 day weekend, you'll have it running by Monday lunch ;)
