And this is why the head is being replaced, the oil is coolant contaminated, that's why the head looks so filthy, the oil/coolant mix is just sticking to everything.

Anyhow, I can't get the bastard to start now, I've purged the fuel rail 5 times. Suspect it might be a low voltage scenario, nanocom says the batt is only at 11.6V which aint good - probably from all the cranking.

looking at block face it looks like gasket was passing in places front and back

How can you tell, what should I be looking for? I suppose there's a chance the head wasn't as flat as I thought - I'll get a straight edge on it again. HG used was elring quality item and torqued down per spec, so hoping it wasn't the fitting.

staining across the fire ring mark on 1 and 5

Wish I had your eyes, I can't see what you're seeing :(

So if was passing coolant across the fire ring how would that end up in the oil? Or are you thinking that if it was passing there it could've been passing elsewhere too? I'm still stumped about why I got no oil in the coolant tbh.

it would pass gasses into cooling system and likely gasses into rocker box ,it doesnt look enough for coolant into oil or coolant into cylinder

are you sure oil has coolant in it looks more combustion gas contamination

All I know is that the coolant level was going down and that I kept getting sweet smelling sludge in the breather and under the cam cover. Could be that both things were going on James - honestly not sure at all.

Plumbed the Mann Hummel Provent 200 back in....

Ditched the DPC because there's one built into the provent body.

Catch can under the provent:

Need to get some better hose to connect it up. Will get some brackets made to secure it a bit better later on.

I cleaned it all out with paraffin & the air gun before putting it back in, the internal filter got a good soak and dry off with paper towelling before going out for a blast... blew some white smoke until the paraffin had burnt off/blown out.

If anyone can recommend some half decent free video editing software I'll upload a clip.

Had these sat around for a while... Off to Tong this w/e so think I might fit these to get a bit more lift - don't want to crack the rear end again...

Probably going to have to think about removing the rear silencer too, don't want to squash it!

dont want to squash it...

pah i see your game :p

I got a bit over enthusiastic on the black routes last time I went and pancaked the exhaust - so that meant I _HAD_ to buy a full Alive stainless system which is a bit too bling for Tong lol.

But seriously, no way I can compete with the racket that your short tailed V8 will throw out.... so I also got...

One of these, it just magically fell into the back of the car:

Still got to get round to fitting the X-Brake & Diff Guards at some point.

Oh ok mate fair play yeah you can't squash that!!!

I have refitted the full system for the mot and I think I'll leave it on, don't wana get chucked out of tong on my first day back!!

No way did that sub fall in your car, hope it hasn't damaged the carpet

Swapped out the dodgy wastegate actuator today:

Leaking oil past the diaghram and the rod was way off centre for some reason.

Boosting a lot better now.

Had the tune tweaked again, was a 'fairly aggressive' stage 2 tune on, but since I've got a hybrid it was worth cranking up again....

Actually found myself having to back off the throttle - scary! :D
