First of all, lucky bugger, they're nice aren't they. :) Secondly as others have said, I'd really spend some time checking the voltage and the electrical system since it does sound like low volts to me.

hi pete get your self a recync box, it will save you loads..

What year is your Holland & Holland? I don't think the re-sync boxes work with Gems (98 and before). They only work with 99-on (Thor) and doozles. Check on the website anyway.

Hi and thank you for all the responses, the year of my vehicle is 2000 on an Xplate. Since it went in some times when switching on the ignition it displays engine disabled press key fob, after doing this it will start, there does not seem any pattern to this its quite sporadic. Athough I fitted a new battery it drained that down to 4 volts I thought there was a problem with the battery so had an exchange. On checking the voltage before starting it showed 12.6 volts that immediatly jumped to 14.06 volts on starting the engine it did not drop below this when keeping the revs at 1200 with the lights on and the heated rear window. However after trying to start on saturday decided to charge the battery before it went into the dealers, it was on charge for 5 hours and still charging. The wife wants to get rid of the car, we both love it but is it turning into a money pit?

They're all money pits. In your case though, it looks as though you're going to have to bite the bullet and buy and updated RF receiver from the main dealer. I think Rangiegall posted some pictures on here a while back showing the old and the new ones opened up. No external difference but completely different inside. Until you change that, you're not going to know what's happening.
The sync-mate will work on your model OK.

Hi J THE RANGE, I'm in South Wales, the car has gone in to Stratstone today seeing they should of sorted the problem.

if your bat is going flat over night, i would think tis your rf box, tis new one or take singal wire off.. as i said earlyer get a resync box it will save you loads of greef..

the RF RECIEVER you want to upgrade to is part number YWY500170. but if you buy one from a random person dont take it for granted that because it sais YWY500170 then thats what it is as people swap and change the internals to make more money. find out what they should look like inside by simply googleing the part number. well thats what i did anyway lol. all the best ;)

Pete I hope you do fix it and get to keep it but if you are thinking of selling send me a PM.

Hope this helps with the confusion

Latest from the Stealers, they can,t communicate with my vehicle, do they know what they are doing?????

i doubt it,because the p38 is now an old model the fitters in the dealers have not got the experiance of working on them, plus the garages tend not to keep the original kit that is for these older vehicles.;)

If the diagnostic OBDII socket is dirty/faulty or the becm is locked out, dealers Test Book can't communicate with it.
