Finished work early today, so thought Id fit the spacers, stop the rubbing on the radius arms.

Much quicker with a forklift :D

Much nicer stance certainly fills the arches better, feels better on the road too. More planted.

However, solved one problem created another :rolleyes:

Now they rub on the sliders...

I have got new 60mm from Dixon Fab but they are stock size, so will likely have to cut and weld brand new sliders...:rolleyes:

Luckily unpainted..

Who knew 33s on a D2 would be such a ballache....

Ive had quite enough of the horrible drone from the straight thru. So bought a resonator, only £30 in stainless! Cut the straight pipe and welded it in.

Can actually hear myself think...

Eventually will have the same set up as the 110. 2.75" or 3" with a switched mid box. Fair way off that though

Just had word that the 110 was deemed a Cat A and has been crushed. :(:(:(

I was hoping to salvage a few bits if it.was a Cat B. Mostly the turbo, diffs, wheels and gauges but sadly not.

Will have to start from scratch!

At least I know where I stand now. So got Empire working on a new water cooled ceramic ball bearing turbo, slightly larger than the last one.

Diffs will be a while as the prices have gone up alot! Got a locker for now at least

Fatty sliders (60mm) from Dixon Fab arrived, but still in a Defender mindset that everything just fits  I forgot about the 33s:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: so they will rub on the tyres.

So went about cutting them down by 70mm so the fit and wont rub, welding isnt fantastic but its strong and being ground flush so not worried.

At least they will fit now!

Painting tomorrow, CIO basecoat and 2K textured FXLiner over the top. Should take all the abuse.

Also fitting some 1" lift blocks, just to ensure the tyres clear.

Should be already for Marquenterre in August! First off road trip for the D2 and its in another country and quite extreme :D:p:p:D

Sliders painted! X3 coats of CIO, followed by x3 coats of 2k FXLiner. Should be rock solid. Will leave to cure for at least a week.

Stripped off the old wing, that was so easy compared to a Defender! And removed the inner support ready for a 3.5" stainless snorkel.

Spot the error in the picture :rolleyes::rolleyes::p

Looks nice and clean, needs a polish and some laqcuer peal sorting but otherwise decent.

Also replaced the subwoofers as both where shot. Only cheap units off amazon but do the job well enough.

Last weekend before im off to Marquenterre!

Got the fat 60mm rock sliders on, looks much better and suits the car more. Didnt expect to have to do any welding though

Sills are in a pretty poor shape. Had been repaired by a garage last year but they did an awful job. Totally rotted away. So cut out the rot, cut a new 3mm plate and some 4mm angle iron nice and solid now.
IMG-20220813-WA0000.jpeg

Prepped and painted. RE then top coat in blue, excuse the welding  paper thin in areas.

IMG-20220813-WA0011.jpeg

But got the sliders on!

Matches the G4 bars too :D

Coated the rest of the sills in a few heavy coats of WAR, hopefully the survive a bit longer. Long term plan is to cut them off entirely, replace with some 4mm box section.

Also fitted some rubber arch liners to protect them.

New rocker gasket and injector harness too.

Drawers removed, for sale if anyones interested.

Never ceases to amaze me how a tidy disco can be very rusty underneath. But good job. You know it’s solid now.

I did start the painstaking task of of sorting the previous owners horrendous wiring.

Step one.

Blue Sea 12 way aux fuse box.

Installed under the steering column, wired direct to the battery. For the most part nothing will need a switched live, ones that do will be wired differently.

First thing! Nice and simple twin USB fast charge.

Fridge next after I beef up the wiring.

Then the spiders web of nonsense.

Theres a 3 way cigar socket, wired into a piggy back fuse. With a 12v to usb adapter :confused::confused: running something in the dash

Back from Marquenterre! Waiting for 2 years! Well worth the wait.

Was lovely to be out doing some proper off roading again.

The D2 was very impressive! Just floated or sailed over most hills, didnt struggle even with both anti roll bars.

Had a few points really fighting for grip but she made it up! Where I did get stuck was down to lack of power! But Empires on it building my new VNT bigger and better than what was in my 110.

Brilliant trip! Videos ill upload on YT tomorrow.

Few vids and links if you have IG

Out with the poundland gauges it came with! In with Stack, oil temp, water temp and boost.

Mounted in the Raptor top pod, with space for switches.

Will be fitting the Gore coolant block, excellent upgrade to the stock one that tends to rot away.

Bit more progress today on the "hurricane" intake as ive tagged it :p

Designed and laser cut plate to fit the APP sensor, DCV inlet welded in.

Final test fit tomorrow, check everything lines up then full weld and shot blast. Ready for paint this weekend.

Very annoyingly I misjudged where the snorkel inlet should be by about 30mm, which interfers with the AC pipes. So painfully will have to cut the inlet off, weld it back up and move the snorkel inlet up. Easier than trying to move 15 year old AC pipes!

Once the airbox is in I can start work on the snorkel itself, which should be far more straightforward. Will be needed as well! Off to Wales in Oct for 6 days!

New adventure and new build starts here! Couldn't sit around for much longer without a Landy.

Didn't spend long looking for this one, it just happened to come up at the right time for the right money. Went and picked it up on Saturday! Easy simple stress free drive back, soaked up 300miles like it was nothing. Much easier than the 110! Can't believe the Disco has the same box and same engine as my Defender. Its so much easier to drive.

On to the D2!

Full history back to its first registration, no rot bar some passenger side wheel arch, interior is excellent for the age with all the bells and whistles being an ES Spec. Front sun roof works and leak free, rear sunroof sealed shut.

Exterior is good, no dents, straight body, and the paints is good. Best part it has a Richards galv chassis, rear ARB locker, Ashcroft recon gearbox/TX box, new-ish clutch, OME suspension, polybushed, Baily Morris front prop. Genuine ZU Alloys with brand new Cooper ST Pros (will be for sale soon, too aggressive for my daily driving!) Likely swap those to 33" Toyos or an aggressive ATs

ARB Bumper is nice but I think Ill swap that for something more subtle from DMO or Torque Performance.

Black leather. Will be painting all the creme black + an alcantara headliner.

ARB Rear storage drawers, dog guard and upper storage area.

Quite a few plans for it but want to build a very capable, yet more subtle landy this time round. Something that looks at home in a small village but also happy in 3ft of mud!
That's bonny
