So had my 3 hour drive with the New Defender today.

Super impressed and I love the car.

Its quick, quiet, looks brilliant, its huge, comfortable, excellent driving position.

Filled with some amazing tech! The camera system is amazing, had to use to get thru some width restrictions.

The parking assist is flawless and brilliant.

The infodash is excellent.

It is BIG. Bigger than my 110. Bigger than my dads L322.

Would I swap my 110 for it? No.

Would I buy one in addtion? Absolutely.

So much so Ill be strongly looking at second hand/new approved 90s and 110s when they become available. 3L petrol though, no derv.

Totally impressed and I love it.

I one see one land rover in that pic :)

I see where your coming from but I think time will tell, I came across a video not long ago (obviously) of one trying to do a sort of rock crawl on different tyres aswell and it didn’t find it as easy as I hoped it would

Yeah.

Though if I bought one i would take it off road, just not the same as what I do in my 110.

Perfect family car/daily though.

Just scored some brand new anti roll bars for £100 :D

Also sod paying Terrfirma £100 for a block of steel for the spacers o_O

Just ordered some steel flat bar cut to size for less than half price! Will use the Mag Drill at work for the holes and a coat of CIO. All for £40 :D:cool:

Fabricated a new airbox to turbo pipe. The old one kept popping off, was driving me mad!

Didnt have a huge amount of time so the welding is fantastic  but it is solid:).

Not too worried as eventually it will all be sanded back and painted to match the rest.

All stainless this time

Busy day today! Of improving the 110s road going ability o_O

Cruise Control

Not 100% finished yet, or wires are there but I buggered the connector :(

On Off switch for CC - the little white halo in the top left :)

Anti Roll Bars!

Fabricated some spacers, 25mm on the rear 20mm on the front. Based off my lift and some info from Extreme 4x4.

X2 coats of Buzzweld RE and x3 coats of CIO. (Stainless to hard to drill and that diameter/thickness, couldnt find Ali!)

Fairly easy to fit! Binned the M16 nuts for M16 A4 Nylocs and used 10.9 HT socket heads for the bush mounts.

So far so good! Cant wait to drive the windy roads to work tomorrow :D:D:D

Finally because of @KISSMYAURA suggestion to paint the flanges finally did it. Just before winter!

X2 coats of Buzzweld GIO Anthracite, x2 coats Resin+ Lacquer. Not my best spray job but they will do. They wheels are flithy btw!

All ready for our trip up to the Peak District on Sat! First trip away ALL YEAR! Cant bloody wait!! :D:D:D:D

Perfect family car/daily though.

and there is the rub..... it’s just that, it’s not a defender replacement at all imo.

there is one I have seen a couple times round my way, I like it from all angles except the rear, I just am not decided on the rear...

Still disagree with that. It does feel like a Defender when your driving it, just for the modern day.

Not everyones kids or partner are happy on trips in a 20 year old truck o_O:p

Drive to work was great! Cant believe the difference its made to handling! With the Koni Dampers & OME springs corners flat and predictable.

May even soften the damping on the shocks.

Spacers work well too. All correct after a drive.

How will it affect the off road capabilities? Or will you live with the compromise?

Cheers

For the most part ill live with it. When I go to France or anywhere extreme ill remove them. Reara just two nuts, then zip tie up and out the way.

The front shouldnt cause much of an issue but again fairly quick to remove if needed.

They will be fine for lanes/Salisbury and most P&Ps.

Considering the mileage I do in it its worth the trade off!
