Nice quick lil mod. In all my ownership of Defenders never ever had a decent radio signal! Not sure why...

£20 off ebay for this dual FM/DAB unit. Earthed direct to the battery and has its own 12v feed tapped in via the headunits own proper 12v feed (not the blue signal wire, not enough power)

Hey presto! Perfect DAB and FM signal for a fraction of the cost of the Nakatenga one (which im pretty sure is identical  but for £90 )

I got a stick on one that you put on the window for my new DAB head unit for the Discovery.

Have you got a link for this just in case my sticky one doesn't work?

Door seal upgrade aswell! £4 a door from ebay. Used the "P" type tried some on my drivers door last week and the difference is huge. So did the passenger side today.

Makes for a much tighter seal. Now got to work out how to improve the bottom seal stop SO much water coming in when wading hahaha

What is that extra seal you have fitted?

For the bottom of the door, have you seen the “new” style door seals that fit to the door? They cover around 4-6” up each front and rear, and look like they will do a decent job. It’s next on my list for my door seals.

Got my landy back from MC Auto Centre! :D

Chris and Mike did a great job!

All went rather smoothly. Couple things cropped up tho

TRE was utterly destroyed some how - not sure how I missed that :oops:

My crankcase breather pipe was melting  i forgot to refit the heat sheild :oops:

One of the engine mount nuts was finger tight  not my doing but a small worry!

One gearbox rubber mount was ready to fail! Lucky Id bought spares!

Clutch went in no issues.

Tranny box little harder but done, the "harmonic dampener" had to be removed however. Feels no different thus far.

1.3 ratio is nice so far. Sits at 80 as if its 70, 70 as if its 60ish. So much quieter on the mway and maybe some better MPG too. Lower gears arent that noticable which is nice too, but 1st is more usable.

Different casing to my old one and uses a different difflock switch so got to be mindful of that if the switch ever fails.

Zero backlash with the ATB in, driveline slack is so minimal now, its so lovely and smooth. Doesnt actually feel much like a Defender o_O:D:D

Clutch is soft, light and nice to use. Much more forgiving than before again very un- Defender like!

Now got 1000 miles of very boring Sunday pensioner driving :(:( Till the clutch is bed in and it can fly again!! :D:D:D

New Nissens rad too as the old one had a hefty bow at the bottom and was at leats 50% mud :rolleyes:
