Busy day again! Seeing as the rollcage fitting is looming at the end of the month and given my new pressbrake abilities I thought id try my hand at the A Pilla cable runs!

Came out rather well I think! Much neater solution than zip tieing cables to the cage!

Bit boring but 30mm anti roll bar spacers for the rear ARB. Sod paying £50 for a block of steel. 3 bits of 10mm tigged together

Primed the cable runs

Primed the headlight guards. Went for a 1k Epoxy Primer from buzzweld this time. From a bit of research supposedly a better primer from stainless.... We shall see!

Top coat will be matt black as im saving the textured FXLiner for the snorkel and Raptor HVLP isnt an option for a while.

Day off? I guess well I was still a work...

Started on the valved exhaust! Not the easiest thing to make ALOT of rolling under and checking, even though I was using the original midbox as a template.

I know 90° bends arnt exactly ideal for flow but at the end of the day its a 20 year old land rover, not an F1 car 😅

Its also only for quiet mode so not worried about a drop in performance. If I where do do it again id split them into Y sections on each end and use a larger midbox, just because. Big learning curver but I am happy!

Fit up is pretty perfect. Doesnt touch, doesnt rub, works well. Only tacked up for the moment ran out of time but will finish the welding when back at the yard nezt week

Then for the joy of wiring/plumbing it in. I cannot for the life of me remember which way to fit the non return valve but im sure ill work it out quickly😅😅

Few pics of the mid flaps now the rubbers arrived!

Temp fitting will.be using proper fixings not teksscrews 😂

Final one! I was never happy with the LED headlights I got as they where not as good as my old ones. You could see the individual LEDs behind the half halos. These are a solid glow 😊

New ones are much higher quality. Pays to search thru alliexpress 😅😅

Finished all the welding on the exhaust!

Sounds bloody brilliant!! 😄😄😄😄

Also forgot how much exhaust noise is actually taken out by the VNT so its perfectly acceptable to drive around in ASBO mode 😂 normally. From the drivers perspective 😅

On quiet mode its quieter than standard so thats a huge bonus! 😀

Forgot to add...

Just waiting on a few bits to arrive.

Normally closed pneumatic solenoid, dont trust the alliexpress one to actually last 😅

Will mount it in engine bay on the bulkhead

Also got some stainless steel braided sleeve. I can run the rubber vac hose through it for an added layer of protection and safety.

Far less exciting but front mud flaps are on.

Well the time has finally come to fit the cage!

This time will be less detailed that before, if anyone wants more indepth click the link my my signature.

As before started with the front and working back.

Lord how I hate splitting these wings! Drivers side is a doddle, easy access.

While I had the wings off did a little soundproofing on the seatboxes as well as some extra under seal in the hard to reach places.

Passenger side is a contortionists act and using tools in magical ways 😅😅

All bolts cleaned and reinstalled after being coated with Buzzwelds Blackit. Will repell water but wont affect torque values or any other issues that copperslip could.

SD provide templates so easy to mark out and 😬

Heres where this one differs! I opted for an internal B hoop this time.

Looks awful but not actually too bad to do but 100% needs two people.

Front headliner, front seats, middle row seats all have to come out.

Drill some holes, RTV the holes and any mating faces. Loosely fit all the bolts

Look at that for fit up!!! Credit to Safety Devices and getting that bang on! Credit to me for the perfect alignment 😅😅

More tomorrow!

Another long day! But productive!

Front end is totally back together.

B Hoop is and fastened, headliner trimmed and refitted

I always knew the sunroof was going to be an issue and I would probably loose the use of it due to this bar -

20240525_084758.jpg

However! After stripping the headliner ive managed to modify the sun roof to work as well as it can anyway.

Drilled and tapped the runner and fitted an M5 SS bolt as a new stopper

Hey presto! No more worry about smashing the sunroof and it works 😁😁

C Pillar - will admit i made a slight mistake here.. 😬

Misread the instructions (because they are terrible) and cut the hole the same as the front. This meant to me from the center of each hole 😳

Fair bit of RTV later and its sealed 😅

Youd never know unless you took the cage off.

Was about to say! Also did some soundproofing on the roof as the liners where down and resealed the sunroof 😅

After the interior went back in I noticed a couple negatives and a couple positives.

So because I have Corbeaus which move the driving position 50mm toward the door it means the top of the seat clashes with the cage 🙄. Its not terrible as I can still wiggle the seats around it but its no longer a quick fold forward.

I can modify the seat base adapter but not right now.

Next negative is I cant take the middle row floor out with enourmous amounts of work 😅

Positives! Ive got some LOVELY steel intertia reel covers for the seatbelts, nerdy to get excited over something so small but I love it!

Second positive! The passenger doors open 90° now as standard without extension brackets or modification which is nice!
