As the weather is warming up I thought id look at getting the AC Regassed. As everything the price has gone up, £90 now, was £50 last year!

So Halfords. AC Pro kit, leak seal & AC cleaner for less than £100 does 3 cars. So much better value and no ballache of booking it in.

U do realise this is a cheap bodge repair kit to try and bung up air con leeks and not fix them correctly and it contains no r134a gas? Ull have to pay to have the correct amount of gas put in still? These cheap leek fix kits do more harm to the system than good and unless you have a way of accurately measuring the grams of gas your putting in your better off paying for it to be done correctly

If you have a bottle of r134a and accurate light weight set of scales you could possibly measure the grams your putting in but you need a gauge on both low and hi side to monitor the pressures correctly

It has a gauge that measures the pressure, I also have a bottle of 134a.

Friend of mine has been using the ACPro kits for years never had an issue.

My AC hasnt been gassed in a couple years but has had a new condenser, compressor is known to work. The "leak seal" was a secondary purchase, for £10 was worth a go

So changed the seals on the AC Condenser as I know they where not great.

Followed the instructions on the kit and hey presto, 10mins later ice cold AC. Colder infact than ive ever had! I expect thats down to the much larger Condenser though.

Think i used maybe half the bottle. Should have weight it before really... Not used the leak stop yet as I want to see if it actually has any leaks but pressure held fine at the required PSI so im happy.

Ill run it on low every day this week make sure the 134a is fully mixed around. Ive cleaned any seals i can see so hopefully be able to see any green gunk building up indicating a leak.

Finally used the AC Cleaner, god awful smell but cars aired out now so hopefully thats gotten rid of the old smell from the AC.

Week later aircon is still ice cold! 😄 so very happy with my choice to DIY.

Then noticed the water drain pipe for the AC is well, missing. So its just dripping into the footwell, easy fix tho!

MOT tomorrow so few pre MOT checks, nothing dramatic, but did have an exhaust leaking due to a missing gasket😳😅

Changed the side steps for Fire & Ice style. Picked them up for £80.00 as the previous owner wasnt happy with the quality.... not suprised

How anyone can let something like that leave their shop is beyond me. Holes in the welds, porosity, tacks instead full welds, wire left on and painted over. Shocking!

But cleaned up, rewelded properly, repainted and fitted today.

Much neater and cleaner than the old massive running board steps. Can complain for £80 anyway!!

Forgot pics but also fixed the rear door CDL, new actuator. Soundproofed it as well. The usual dodomat, followed by 6 or 10mm closed cell foam depending on the need. Soundproofed the boot and carpeted the sides of the tub. Should keep the condensation at bay.

Also did the top of the front seatboxes with the same and finally fitted an anderson connector for jumpstarting when needed!

Considerably quieter now!

Slight mishap when the old rear section fell off 😂

Neither the time nor the cash for Demand so a Britpart 3" special but made a new tip.

Fit up is terrible btw. The hangers needed a fair bit of manipulation so it wouldnt rub..

Probably wont be the Final iteration of the Exhaust but thats the kind of style im going for...

Also ordered a vacuum switch for the switched midbox :D

Nothing too exciting but swapped the hold fuel filter guard for a new stainless one.

Typically the nust where almost rounded over, hammered a 9mm socket on and off it came.

Few coats of Blackit before refitting!

Also finally connected my second map switch 😄. Flick of a switch more power!

Welded up my drivers door as well, cracked in the traditional place on the top by the plunger. All fixed and reinforced.

Oh nice!!

Where'd you get the stainless guard from dude? And does it included the backing plate or just the front guard? Cheers dude!

Front and back sections.

Was looking at lightguards again, love the ones I had on my old 110 and thought Id challenge myself to draw and make them this time!

First prototype, simple 2mm mild.

Added some more detail and adjustments for 4mm stainless

Involved having the programme new tooling for the pressbrake to achieve the angles. Goose necks! Not the easiest thing to programme!

Final product! 4mm stainless, however will be painted with FXLiner 2k Textured.

And rears?

Full sets would probably sell well :).

Oh and I hope you wrapped that bloody finger in workshop tissue and some insulation tape:p.

J

Got stuck in a gate. Its rather sore 😅

I was thinking about some today actually but not sure. Ive got the traditional plastic ones which I treat as sacrificial. They have saved my leds a fair few times other the years.

Not sure if id want a big surround like the fronts...

hope you making a few sets of the sides, me wanty a pair!

Haha yeah of course! Once they finalised ill post some pics :D

You should make the center line bigger and cut a logo mark out. Time for you to start a little business

Same with the head light surrounds. Find a flat edge

Ahh thank you! Thought about it a few times. Front light guards easy, can go in one of the top or bottom fixing plates.

If anyone here would like anything ive made ping me a message can sort something out!
