I like that idea mark, but not being an electronics guy I'm not any good with smart control stuff!

I'm still looking for the matching connectors for these heated screen connectors - the ones on the vehicle loom. Anybody breaking a Disco with a heated screen?

Urm...? Don't know pal tbh but some DuPont etch primer or UPOL adhesion promoter might be a good place to start and then your top coat.

One for the battery talk
i have 2 batterys on mine but all it looks like is that the battery are just connected together thats it a sort off neg to neg i think or sumet like that
Dont know why bought the disco like that

Looks like you're twin batts are just connected together for more capacity

Simple to fit a split charge then you can reap the benefits when camping etc.

I know an auto electrician via another forum. I know he sells them as he makes up looms to fit D3 heated washers onto D2s using the heated screen wiring - its the same connector on the D1 as on the D2. I'll see if he has any and how much they are.

in time you may find the batteries keep going flat as they are prone to discharging each other when connected in parallel

Here you go Rob - reply from my contact as follows -

"Hi Sam,

The female connectors (the ones on the windscreen tails) are £4.95 each + £3.25 P&P

Unfortunately, these connectors are too large to squeeze through as a 'Large Letter' and have to be posted as a "Small Parcel"

Let me know if you'd like a pair and I'll arrange it for you.

Cheers, Sam

Hi Sam,

Many thanks. I think it's the male ones I need (the ones attached to the Disco's wiring loom). Are they the same price? Do they come with wire attached or is it easy to solder them one?

Cheers

Rob.

Usually connectors like that will come unassembled and you have to solder/crimp the terminals on and assemble the connector.

It's very easy but unless you have the often expensive correct tool for those type of crimps I would always recommend solder for that guaranteed connection.

Cheers, Other Sam :)

Cheers Other Sam. I understand - roll on the heated screen. :D

I think it was plasticoat that was mentioned for spraying the plastics

Spot on - well remembered. Next stop Halfrauds.

Before you get carried away, when I got my heated screen I don't think it had these connectors on, but it was only £170 as opposed to £400 or so for a factory one.

Unless I am very much mistaken, it was a long time ago.

Maybe just hold off of connectors until you get the screen, you might want to fit both sides of the connector when it comes to it!

When I said roll on the heated screen I really meant roll on wiring up the screen I've had in there for ages. :)

This is mine.......

.....attached to a genuine LR screen. I don't want to chop off the genuine connectors as that will void a lifetime warranty. :( Instead, I want the male version to "plug and play" when I've wired to Disco to run it.

Since when did heated screens have a lifetime warranty? They're total **** and fail after a couple of years!

(Speaking from experience)
