We all had to start at the beginning...a digital multi meter is cheap and easy to use...advise on here if needed...
just for clarification have you actually checked for a spark at the plugs I know you say there's no supply at coil even after a supply from battery which is odd... things don't seem to add up..
Typical of my car! Yes checked again today for spark as was hoping that new amp may have solved it but it hasn't

Today was only the king lead into the block but been tested on plugs by two RAC guys and the mechanic before today

Just to clarify...to check for a spark you remove a plug lead fit a spare plug to it then ground it to a place on the engine with a known negative return to battery and when cranking see if there is a spark...is that how you did it?...

No. I was told to take king lead off distributor and hold near to the block to test spark from there

Now I'm confused (not unusal for me...lol)...but you said you tested coil by pulling king lead and grounding against block why if there's no power to coil...you've got to find out why no power to coil...

@dieseldog69 ...if you can crank car and have fuel at injectors then run a supply from battery to coil and make sure a good earth on ignition side it should fire?...

Yes.

+&- to coil = spark so long as coil not duff and king lead is in good order.

@sueg you need to give us more info on what your mechanic has tested and how!...it's not adding up...sorry to say...engine cranks yes...fuel pump supplys fuel yes?...no power to coil you say ..so what does your mechanic think is the problem...he's a professional he should know...

Yes I agree but can't track down the fault
