As i'll be doing the timing belt - would it be better to do it when the newer engine is in as i haven't got a crankshaft pulley holding tool??

when out if you havent got a good air gun or battery gun then a chisel or similar wedged in teeth of flywheel against housing should hold it while you undo bolt

Thanks James! It would be easier to do with the engine out.
I'll be doing the p gasket and water pump before the engine is fitted too.

Cheers

Just been looking through the haynes manual............. i've got a new clutch release bearing and clutch arm to fit when i do the engine change.
Have noticed that the clutch arm comes with a spigot bush?

LFB500050 SPIGOT BUSH

Can't see where it fits in relation to the arm or release bearing??

Any ideas??

SORTED - it is in the flywheel :)

Have been busy this afternoon - done the timing belt change and p gasket and new water pump BUT have noticed that the injection pump isn't exactly the same as on my current engine
On the top where the diaphragm is for the turbo boost infront of that is a unit with 3 wires coming out of it (orange/green/blue) - whats it for??? Will it be ok to use with a normal accelerator pedal OR do i have to swap pumps too  HELP!!!!

The unit with the 3 wires is infront of the diapraghm housing and behind the timing case cover - if that makes it clearer???

The unit sits above where the throttle cable return spring is

Well been busy since 2pm on wednesday........

Newer engine...
Timing belt and new pulley, tensioner and idler
Delphi lift pump fitted
New 'p' gasket
New QH Water pump
New crankshaft oil seal
New clutch with new release bearing
Fitted non leaky oil cooler pipes
New rocker gasket and bolt seals
New rad hoses

Managed to get the old engine out and sat on a pallet BUT now i'm a bit stuck..............

Having a nightmare fitting the newer engine - just can't get the engine and gearbox to engage :( ..................... been trying all afternoon!!!

Any tips??

did you try turning the bottom pully a bit?

Clutch plate lined up good?

Put a jack under the gearbox so you can line it up with the engine easy
