was that a on line quote? Ed has said to always call for a quote, if not happy give him a pm as alot of the phone staff is not well versed in 4x4 and a lz discount. They work with 30+ insurance companys, so doubt very much that the phone staff would be well trained in what all 30+ companys have to offer.

bet if you PM ED he could get it for less than 320

When phoned flux for cheaper quote, and got the £320 quote I asked why they wanted the £460 to start with. I was told that they couldn't do that price to start with as the new quote was taking away their profit.. Hmmm ok so £250 profit on my car insurance.. I don't think so..

So went elsewhere

In comparison, you guys have very cheap insurance. For Doris and I with 2 vehicles, SUV ( defender 110 type) and my pickup is just over 150 quid a month:eek:

No tickets/claims Doris 14 yrs

Me no tickets/claims 30+yrs

Yep and that is why I laugh about you lot bitching about what you pay.

But the lawyer that are starting to do law suit for free for injury's is going to put yours through the roof.

We have to carry insurance for that 1 million per person with a 5 million per accident cap, that coverage alone is 1/2 the insurance bill. road service(aa coverage) is like 10 a month so cheap as hell, car rental from accident 4-5 a month the extras are cheap, But the initial coverage is just very high.

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. Sorry that we couldn't beat that price for your renewal, it does seem a very good deal though if it provides the cover you are after, certainly give us a call next year and see if we have some new markets available for you.

What alarm have you been told that you need to fit?

If you have been told to fit a Thatcham approved alarm, you will need to get this fitted and certified by a VSIB approved installer.

If we only require an "electromechanical immobilising device", this can be fitted by you.

I would check the endorsements on the quotation we sent you to make sure the correct toe is installed to avoid any unnecessary outgoings. I would happily check this all for you but I'm not in the office until Tuesday morning.

I hope this helps you.

Thats fine Ed, not spoke to anybody but will soon be at the rebuild stage as the repairs are nearly done and wanted to conceal them in places that are not easy to tamper with, I am not in a rush to buy it but don't want to fit it and find it has no effect on insurance.

I have to say I am impressed with you answering questions out of work hours.

The main thing you want to take in to account is the value once rebuilt. It it's a significant amount and you park it in the road in a high risk area, then yes, get an immobiliser. If it's relatively low I wouldn't worry too much, but you can pay for peace of mind at the end of the day...

In regards to the work hours, I prefer it that way, that way I can turn my office into a beer garden :p

Why would eating an immobiliser help???

Have to say AF have ssen me ok today. Have been having nightmares trying to insure a bog standard 94 disco. Everyone l contacted either online or in the high street took the fact that l have had comany cars for the past 8 odd years as a reason to ramp up the premiums. Absolute bloody cheek. Contacted AF, no problems' reasonable policy price, no issye with the comany car side of things. I know who l will be renewing with when the time comes. Thank you Adrian Flux
