I was quite shocked the D3 only requires 140Nm on the wheel nuts - it's not a lot really.
more than the D1, thats 116 or 120 depending on steel or alloy IIRC

The garage i used last, well respected local tyre place, did the nuts up so much that when I then got a puncture in Scotland the garage snapped the snap-on socket trying to undo the wheel nut and gave up on me.
I got it off by whacking on a socket, then using a very long bar and a lot of jumping. (i then changed the hub to be on the safe side)
My mate said he couldn't get the ones on his Disco off, I presumed he hadn't eaten all his Weetabix and said I'd do it, ended up using a wheel brace which he held in place with me at the other end of a twelve foot scaffolding tube slipped over it and even the they took some shifting
That needs new studs then, it's an accident waiting to happen.
And I'd take a look at the seats on the wheels, especially if they are alloys.
either way i weigh 16 stone n if i put my weight behind the brace its gonna tighten
 I'm out, this is obviously a lost cause.
doc,do you do everything by the book.no you dont.so dont condemn others for something you dont do.
this is a safety critical part though and every good tyre shop should tell you to do it anyway if he's just had new ones put on or even if he's just bought new ones its common sense on wheels
check them to see if anythings loose!

What rubbish
50% of the people driving these days wouldn't even know how to do it. Never once in 35 years driving has ANY tyre place suggested I should do that.
You pay for a service and it should be done right, if its not its the fault of the garage
i dont believe whats just happened to me i was driving down the road n my steering felt weird i stopped n looked under the car n nothing seemed broken i carried on went round an island i was about a mile from home n suddenly my wheel flew off n fooked off up the rd. ive mashed my wing abit but i got my wheel on i think some1 might have tried stealing it or something because they was all on tight now my indicator flew out smashed n my disk ground flat and all my front wing is hanging off
sue, really you should check the wheel nuts after so many miles tbh.but not many bods do that.
I do I look at the wheels and think "they are still there"
To be honest the only time a garage didn't tighten mine properly I noticed before the wheel fell off, I could feel the wheel wobbling through the steering.
I have had a wheel come off the trailer, but that was a wheel bearing.
Biggest problem I have on Landys is getting the nuts undone. Have had to call Green Flag a few times, once they couldn't get them off either :hysterically_laughi
