fair enough, just wondering if the transfer box will end up a bit off where it should be was all :p

Yeah, See what you're saying.
Guess that's the problem I've got doing this when I haven't got a gearbox to mock up with.
Just hoping it's right.

Excellent....

I saw somewhere else where someone used a pressure reducer for the PAS. No time to look now as off to work but it'll be on one of the cummins/defender write ups.

Think pressbrake has that info. Remember that being mentioned

So you didn't have to break any of the galv? If so awesome! :D

Nice to see the engine in there... Red engine, blue L/R. Interesting combination!

That's a nice looking engine mate, very nicely done too .. ;)

Nope :) Re-drilled tdi mount on the drivers side and home made crappy looking thing on the other :p

One thing I think I will have to do is chop into the gearbox crossmember as I don't think the gearbox will clear.
Or my solution is to just fit a flat type td5 one.
Wont be galv, But at least it's a removable component :)

I did consider re-painting it blue, But red will have to do. To late now anyway :D

Cheers :) Can't wait for me gearbox back :D

Not a bad day today, Few little bits done.
To be honest I'm dubious about doing to much just in case I have f*cked the engine positioning up and it has to come out.

First job was to lift the engine back up and remove the engine mounts so they can have a clean and paint.
So while they was drying I fitted the exhaust manifold. With some shiny new bolts :D
Hopefully they wont seize in again.

Bolted the turbo on and connected oil feed and return.

Exhaust elbow off the manifold with an adapter so I can slide a piece of 3" exhaust straight on.

Cleaned the water pipes and gave them a lick of paint. The end will want cutting off I think, But I'll do that when I fit them.
Couldn't do it today as the engine was up in the air.

And how I finished the day.
Ordered a 12V starter last night and I'll be ordering an alternator tonight.
So that'll give me a couple more jobs :)

How strange that U shape in the manifold that leaves the threads etc all exposed!

Loving how shiny everything is... How will you be dealing with the exhaust? From pics looks reasonably tight, or is that not the case.

Yeah, It's a bloody silly idea, That's why I sheered 4 of the bolts when I took it off

Exhaust will be tight and I've no idea how I'll do it yet.
Going to wait until I fit the gearbox and starter first.

Or just have a 6" pipe sticking out the bonnet :D

Might as well make it shiny like the rest of the build :D How long it'll last is another mater.

Not done a lot myself today, As I said I don't want to do too much incase the engine position is wrong.

So I removed the old exhaust cleaned a painted a few more bits and fitted the clutch, It's actually in really good condition so it's being reused.

And this is the adaptor shaft being made, Not finished so wont mean a lot to anyone, But thought I'd stick the pics up anyway. (Not me making it by the way) Wish I had the skill to do it though.

Brilliant , Aaron. Every time you add a post you demonstrate the depth of your forward planning, knowledge and skill. Keep the detail coming, it's edge of ya seat stuff. I haven't read it, but it must be like 50 Shades of Grey, but for Landy loving petrol heads.

Dead impressive

Cheers :)

Ha, Cheers :) I try and be organised. But it's rather difficult with this one, As I don't really know what I need. So working it out a bit at a time.

Hope he's putting it on the cylindrical grinder to clean up those welds :p

Last pic is of the weld cleaned up :p

So again I haven't done anything all day.
Well my new 12v starter turned up, So I fitted that :D
Then ordered some fuel hose and a few other bits.

This is the adapter shaft finished. But the bloke is now on holiday for 2 weeks.
So while he is away the adapter plate is being cut and he'll finish when he's back.
Can't wait to get it back now :D
