For your hydraulics, it might help if you find a local small firm. After searching the net recently for an unusual fitting and ringing around all over the place, I eventually found a place a couple of miles away that supplied the part on a Sat morning for the grand total of £1!
 
I was only asking about the airbox because it looks tight in the engine bay. I was wondering what sort of box would have been with the engine when it was in the lorry - maybe that would be suitable.

In terms of cooling, are you thinking of a big rad like the TD had (with oil cooler) and separate intercooler or std 200 tdi.

No it's actually a good question, Sticking a K&N on is the easy option. I've got a couple of different air boxes here, So I'll give them all a try.

I never got the Daf one so that's out of the window, Although I'm sure they're huge anyway.

No need for oil cooler, But the rad is something I've had trouble making decisions on.
I'd have liked to fit a full width TD rad, But that means to pipe the intercooler up I'd have to drill a 3" hole in the side of each wing for the pipe work. (I know you wont see it but I don't really want to do it)

So my plan was to keep the 200 rad pack, Remove the intercooler and move rad to the middle, Leaving plenty of room each side for intercooler pipework.

Or today I found a Td5 rad/intercooler in the shed. I'm thinking that'd be slightly better than a 200rad as it's slightly bigger.

The other option I had is to not run an intercooler and have a full width rad. But that idea soon went out of the window.
 
So the original setup does not use an oil cooler at all? Maybe another option would be a full width rad (without oil cooler), 2.5NA style and a top mounted intercooler with a scoop like ebbadger here http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/what-have-you-done-your-landie-today-62254-2532.html .

Seemed to work well on my WRX back in the day!

I think the oil cooler is built in to the engine (somewhere) Their isn't a physical external cooler.

To be fair it doesn't mater if the rad has an oil cooler as I'll just blank them off.

Not sure how much room I have between the top of the engine and the bonnet, But I'll stick it on and check.

I'm thinking td5 rad/intercooler pack is a decent compromise. Will offer it up tomorrow I think :)
 
You will need the biggest radiator you can fit. That cummins is twice the motor of any land rover and will need all the cooling it can get. Don't think a land rover rad will be enough.

It's not going to work very hard pulling a 90 around though - it's a bit different to a skip wagon or a bus! Will probably struggle to get up to temperature.

measure the space you have and then go to a place that might scrap out lorries or farm tractors. dont worry about the mounts on the rad, just make ones to fit the project

Well I've got 3 good rads here, A full width td one, A 200tdi, and a td5 rad.
So it'll be having one of them.
If it doesn't cool it enough then I'll swap it out for something bigger.
For me everything is trial and error, Theirs no set way to do it and only time is going to tell how it'll last :)

I've just witnessed the 6BT in person, it's monstrous, can't wait to see it running.
